Topic: Older...Ummm...I mean "More Experienced" Forum members. | |
---|---|
I've noticed some members who have been here a long time and post quite regularly in the forums. I'm curious if you also belong to other dating forums and how much time do you dedicate to online dating and friendships. As I said..."curious". Why do you want to know why I want to know? Okay. If you want the long version... I've had a couple of people get upset with me when I log on for 5 minutes to answer an email or two and then am too busy to login for a few days after. So obviously, I'm not someone who spends a great deal of time on the site. I noticed the post numbers that some of you have racked up and it made me wonder just how much time some people spend here. The thought occured to me that once someone's made friends here, there is more reason for them to log on more frequently and the closer you become to friends and the more friends you make, the higher priority this forum becomes to your life. So in other words..."curious" what people who dedicate much time here would say about it. My intention was not to offend anyone, but to learn something from those more experienced than myself. everyone's join dates are posted on the threads under their names & yes some of us are more cellular/digital than others |

I would not consider 800 posts a year in the terribly high range though and will probably dedicate as much time here myself. I'm curious about those I see who have been here two years and have 30,000 posts. That's a good deal of time to spend here. They must have many friends and interests here. |

Not everyone here is for dating. This is used as a social site too. Some leave while in a relationship but come back to talk to old friends. I'm not here to date myself. I have a friend who was on this site a couple of years ago and said there was a good forum here. I think she was right. there ya go. There is the answer. I have been here since 12/07 with over 36,000 posts. This is why I have been here so long and why I have so many posts |

I don't do a whole lot of social sites. Mingle2 is pretty much the only one. Over the years I've probably joined every free dating site as well as most of the top social sites. I've joined many forums as well. I've had most of my accounts removed, but there may be some floating around, that I either don't care about or have just forgotten.
Though I post a lot here, I'm mostly online working on my websites and downloading music. Mingle2 is a great way to pass the time as I'm waiting for things to transfer. Recently, I've been getting back into Second Life, but haven't been on lately. I would like to buy a couple tiers, and start a club and build a store for my website on Second Life. But, that's just a thought for now. |

How internet chatting fits into diffent people's lives. Thanks for sharing. |

Honestly if it was not for the forums and the ones I met here I would have never stayed here............. I prefer the forum to emails so far myself. In fact can I turn my mail off? My frequent absenses only irritate people who send me mail. |

You can uncheck all the boxes, so you don't receive any emails. I don't receive any mails from Mingle2.
As for PMs, you can always set your filters really high. You could use stealth mode as well, to not show up in the search, and to perv/stalk unsuspectingly. |

I've made friends and I like posting in the forums.... not really here for dating so much anymore (although I did recently meet a very cool guy from this site). How much time... uh when I'm already on the computer and multitasking anyway, no set amount of time. Edit: No other sites... tried a few and they are all interested in telling you who you match with. Like they know right? Hilarious .. that's what they are Honestly the people I get matched with .. especially one site in particular. R u kidding??? To the OP .. I use to be on different sites back and forth over about 7 years of online dating. I've met tons of people in person, had a couple LTR's thru online yada yada .. But for now .. I'm being monogamous in my membership .. LOL Not really worried about getting dates right now, too busy with a few other things in my life. Will get back to it in a bit |

My frequent absenses only irritate people who send me mail. The only way you can keep from getting e-mails within the site is to deactivate each time you leave. But...........even then when your online you will still receive them..... Or you can use the suggestions that totage gave............ |

As to the forums .. ya, pretty much why I'm here.
I started in forums on another site first and ended up hosting an 'inperson meet' for about a dozen members at my house for a weekend. We had a blast .. oh ya |

It's pretty easy to rack up a bunch of posts in a short amount of time if actually participate in the forums, rather than just reading. |

I don't belong to any other social or dating sites. I have Facebook but I consider that a network site since I also have my business listed on FB.
I spend my extra time on Mingle as I have met many, many friends by posting in the forums. I Mingle. As far as dating, I have met a few guys but not any in my area. I travel to them or have them come to me if we want to meet in person. I don't exclusively meet guys online. I like meeting guys in real life too. I think balance is important. |

I mainly use this site for the forums and to chat with friends. Not really for dating now, as there aren't many in my area. I do belong to another site that I use more for dating, because there are many more locals.
