one thing I will say. when someone moves in who has never had an apartment before, the biggest thing to remmeber is that you have to be much quieter and careful and considerate of your noise & activties than you did as a dweller in a home. U are not alone and everyone is entitled to their privacy, their sleep, quiet, and a good quality of life, AND an apartment is not a college party dorm (move to one if that is what u want). noise that can be heard from ur place beyond 25ft of the building, u can be cited for. most buildings have rules regarding all of the above, and they will prolly be spelled out on ur lease.

hate to be a downer - but since u were a homeowner I figure ur in for a big adjustment...flowerforyou

not at all, no and I didn't mean to make it sound like u would do those things. But I did them. Moving from the country where I could sing out loud at 4 am and not bother a soul to living in an apt building was a big adjustment. It has taught me to be much more considerate than I was before. (which I wasn't - not at all)

it is an adjustment
most of my neighbors are lovely - but between work & the gym I;m not here much - the guy next door for example - is a folk singer ( I dont' think that's what HE thinks he is) anyway - he's just a kid but sooo talented. I can leave my door open to listen to him play the guitar & sing, and then the man downstairs who is a recovered crack addict will do anything within his power for anyone, I've gone to the laundry room t oget my clothes from the dryer and found them folded and stacked. things could be worse -good luck to youflowerforyou

Talked to my Mom and she had a good suggestion. She said to make sure the place does not have a heat pump. She has one and says it doesn't heat or cool as well.........smokin

When I was an apartment dweller I would prefer a duplex. I can't handle the people above, below and side to side. Too close for me...
gotta be able to smoke, play music and shiit without bothering others.
So just one next door was tolerable.

That would be my suggestion Jeff, if ya don't want people up your azz and in your business.

If there isn't a liquor store, porn store and a neighborhood kid selling pot within walking distance.....keep looking.

Ya gotta cover the basic essentials.

Did you think about trying to rent a house?
Lots of vacancies=lower rent.
Then you could fit the pool table in.
And your own laundry.

Before I bought my townhome, I drove around the place and asked people liked the looks of, what it was like there.
The walls here are cinderblock, so no problem with nosie/noise from neighbors. Good luck.
