What color is clear? We know that the color white and black is all the colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) combined... so what makes clear, clear??? aha, I thought that, too, about black. someone told me that black is the absence of color. Clear can`t be a color,,,,it`s like a window,,,u think? |

Clear isn't a color. White is the total reflection of color whereas black is the absorption of all color. At least, that's how I understand it. exactly |

This is a question that I'd really like to know since it bothers me when I read it in the newspaper because I have a son who is an officer in the Army serving in Afghanistan. When there are deaths of servicemen they say " (x amount) of Troops. I don't get it.... a Troop is a group of individuals. My youngest son is in a scout "Troop" (group). If I get a speeding ticket it is from a State Trooper (individual not a group). The men and women who lose their lives for our country are individuals, a father or mother, sister or brother, son or daughter etc. They are a SOLDIER who lost their life in the line of duty. So why don't they give them the courtesy of saying soldier, or servicemen. And unfortunately when there is more than one death in an incident: soldiers, as each is an individual who lost their life or
Servicemen and not "Troops", which implies to me groups of groups of people? |

And unfortunately when there is more than one death in an incident: soldiers, as each is an individual who lost their life or Servicemen and not "Troops", which implies to me groups of groups of people? I'm not certain, but I think with women now serving in forward areas to say Serviceman would not be politically correct. If the article refers to just one person, they usually just say soldier, but when speaking in the large numbers of individual soldiers it would be more politically correct to say Troop. Plus, Troop brings up the images of boy/girl scouts that you referred to earlier. This softens the language and makes it more acceptable to the general public. Much the way they don't use terms like "shell shock" or "battle fatigue" when referring to a soldier with "post-traumatic stress syndrome" (with acknowledgement to George Carlin for the example). Just a guess, but I imagine a good one. |

Why do people think putting a monkey in a movie or tv show automatically makes the program amusing?
