A while ago i signed this thing at hooters ..it was like a big brothers big sisters type thing ...but for troops ...

so yesterday my phone rings and this gentlemen explained that he just came back from iraq he hasn't been home in a year and all he wants to do is golf ...i said sure buddy ...so we went out 7:55 the A.m. and knocked 18 out ...

he explained to me he don't have any friends..and (he has a wife and kids) he's going back to iraq Thursday for another year and all he wants to do is golf ..everyday till he leaves ..he offered to pay my green fee's but im not gonna let him ...

he thanked me like 50 times how grateful he was for me playing with him and i kept saying to him buddy i should thanking you ...

but im glad i could put a smile one someones face that serves our country

(kinda feels good)

That wasnt what I meant, but somehow I know that was gonna come out. What I really meant wasnt about golf or clothing, its companionship. Ive been back since 05, medically discharged in 06 (my hair is 14 inches long so people cant say they cant tell). I worked fulltime for almost three years and have been going to college here in Raliegh for almost two. Why is it so hard for me to make friends (and find sane dates)? Everyone I try to get close to runs like hell and Im one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Dunno, although the 'sane dates' bit is probably more your doing than anyone else. Friends? Go hit a pool hall, that is how I made most of my friends, granted most of them were older than me they were still pretty cool people to knock a few (count, 20) games of 8-ball out with.

((( Kevin ))) This brought tears to my eyes. I have so many family members who are ex-military. I love our armed forces.

Living in Colorado Springs affords me a chance to thank them all the time because we are a military town and have a boatload of bases and the Air Force Academy.

Way to prove support dude!!!!flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

I have found that just plain good friends are harder to make as an adult.

Well tomorrow my Army friend leaves for iraq frown we played golf everyday,.(just like he wanted)

everyday we'd go in the pro shop ..and knock some h2o back ..shoot the hay with the guys ..in there ..id pick up this putter and play with it "a ping redwood putter" ..(hand made of course)

He was like man you must really like that...i expressed ..how i would bought it six months ago but im really not that financially stable to spend that kinda money on something that silly ..

So we Went to leave today and he says "Kev" cmere (flags me over to his truck)

He says i got something for you..

Sure enough he pulls out the putter...

(of course i told him i couldn't take it)

but he insisted it was the least he could do ...and he said i had to because he didn't have a receipt

kinda brought a tear to my eye ..we shook hands... (again)

he jumped in his truck and off he went....

im pretty much still at a lose for words it's people like that...that makes the world go around

kinda makes me feel bad like i didn't get him anything frown
