Ahh getting stood up. There isn't anything like showing up an hour early because you're excited. The waiting in anticipation of the arrivial. The slow click of the second hand on a clock. The realization that they are cutting it close. Then that they are a little late. The clock still ticks. The clock still tocks. Another hour, maybe she remembered the time wrong. Until eventually you have to admit to yourself that no one is showing.

Damn I wish I hadn't meantioned to the waitress that I was waiting for someone. Now I not only feel like a fool, but look like one as well.
