have trouble regulating their body temperature?

Now I'm not talking about hot flashes or anything, but most women I know are "freezing" when I'm perfectly comfortable (say around 74 degrees). Then others will be too hot in the same environment. I never see guys like this but the girls seem to be all over the temperature grid.

My mother seems to be the most susceptible to this, she's freezing one minute and then too hot if it goes up by 5 degrees.

Or lower calorie intake, body regularly produces less heat, overcompensates with a spike in heat production when cold.

yeah, that explains all the dieting women are always cold, but I haven't found out what's the deal with the icicle like cold fingers. That can really make me jump.

It because are blood circulation is more at are core so then are hands and feet don’t get the same circulation and get cold which makes us feel colder

Women have a higher percent body fat and lower percent muscle by mass than men on average. If a man has the amount of percent body fat a woman typically does, he is considered to have an unhealthy amount of body fat according to the literature I read in college.

There is lots of scientific literature you could search out.

If you are referring to the BMI scale, you are correct in that body fat vs. men and woman have different levels of healthy.

I loath temps that drop below 80 degrees but I am a warm weather bunny. Even though I “feel” chilly, I quickly warm my core by exercising.

I don't think this is a universal problem. The human variables are too enormous to answer this question. It’s a very individual issue.

Well I hate being cold...but I don't know if that has to do with me being unable to control my body temp or the fact that I just hate it.

I've always had the cold feet, hands issue but the whole feeling of freezing got worse after the heart surgery when I woke up fighting the face mask freezing to death. I still haven't put up my fleece blankets and will grab one and curl up with it if the ac and fan make the room cold right now. It can be a 100 out.

It could be a number of different things... amount of body fat, circulation issues, iron levels/other nutrients and many other things.

If we want to get all ecological and evolutional.... women are the offspring caretakers and must be more intuned to temperature changes.... where guys are the hunters and must be able to tolerate exteremes in temperatures.

For starters: Men naturally have more muscle mass than women. Since one-third of all body heat is generated by muscle tissue, men naturally generate slightly more body heat. Another difference between men and women has to do with our blood vessels. Basically: Women tend to have more constricted vessels. That means they’re narrower, and give off less heat. So women naturally have a slightly cooler core body temperature, compared to men. The biggest difference between men and women is what happens when there’s a sudden change in temperature outside. Researchers say one of the main functions of blood is to keep the body warm when it’s cold. So when a man gets the chills, blood rushes to his skin and his extremities, but when a woman gets cold, more blood gets directed to her core, where it protects the vital organs needed to bear children! That explains why women are statistically more prone to cold-related conditions - like the shivers, frostbite, or hypothermia. It also explains why air conditioning technicians tend to get more phone calls from men complaining that the A/C isn’t working. In most cases, there’s nothing wrong with the A/C at all. It’s just that guys are naturally warmer, and possibly because a woman in the house has secretly turned up the temperature! There you go: Some real science behind the ongoing battle of the sexes over the thermostat.
