I read this article about some students from, I believe, Cambridge did some heat response tests and found out that based on the sensory information being fed to them from plants being "tortured" that although plants aren't necessarily sentient they are uniquely aware of death and decay.

PETA's ridiculous, but what the name stands for makes sense. I'm for the ethical treatment of animals, but I love double bacon cheeseburgers. I still like the taste of animals, but let's give them a nice send-off before we slaughter them, ya know?
