okay, so i take extremely good care of mine. i don't have a choice...if i don't, i won't be walking in ten, lol.

i eat a complete vegetarian diet with lots of whole grains and fresh veggies. i exercise regularly, and i hardly ever consume alcohol...and when i do, it's not to excess.

lotion daily...

the thing i don't do is get enough sleep.

Oh man! I feel bad for you guys.

I eat, drink and smoke what I want. If working my butt off counts as exersize, then I work out alot.

I am having a lime beer with nachos right now.....extra chili and cheese.

When dealing with yet another session of "You should stop smoking" from my Dad (health nut) I told him.

"Yeah, I can stop drinking, quit smoking, eat right, and die anyway"

My mom gave a big "Amen" on that one. She is a plush gal.

I have and occasionally still do just about any drug you can think of except heroin...addiction rates are too high. I have slowed down alot on the drinking. Not by choice. I just got up one day and didnt bother with it. Strange after drinking everyday for 20+years I would get the dt's or something....nope.

I think that the secret is this...don't live strictly on junk food, get off your @ss occasionally, and NEVER visit a doctor. Those guys make a good living making sure that you are f**ked up in some way.

I am sure I could do a lot more than I do.
I hike a lot, work out a lot on the boflex..
I also eat like a horse.
Bad habits sure,
I live off of caffiene. I also keep at least 4 quarts of different ice cream in my freezer at any given time.

I think diet and exercise is important and yet
I also think it can go to the extreme.
So far knock on wood I am healthy.

Turning 50 in 9 more days and last check up
all came back great.

Oh yeah water is very important.

Every day I hear people complaining about their illness, their weight, etc. and some (not all) of these people just don't and never have taken good care of their body.

They take better care of their cars.

They smoke all their lives and now they are complaining about not being able to breathe and being on oxygen, or they eat unhealthy foods and complain because they are fat and stiff and get out of breath when they walk across the room.

I myself am addicted to pasta and bread and need to curb my bad habits before I end up in the same condition. I have never smoked, or drank or done drugs though.

I need to break some of my bad habits and get healthy, how about you?

Let me get this straight. You have never smoked. Or drank. Or did drugs. You will live to a very ripe old age and deservedly so. You will become incredibly bored with having done the right thing.

I have recently started taking better care of myself, eating better and getting in some exercise; however, I do smoke and have no intention to quit drinking. I had some people getting on me one day about smoking and drinking and how it is killing my body. they tried to push a "clean" lifestyle and a vegetarian diet, etc...

I told them that one day all these health nuts are going to feel really silly lying in a hospital bed dying from "nothing". At least I will know what took me out and I am having a damn good time along the way.

I wonder how "feeling good or being healthy and living to a ripe old age".. translate, for you, into "being bored."

I have many creative projects I am working on and I am very interested (still) in learning as much as I can about things. I am never bored.

and I have never found drinking, smoking or taking drugs to be interesting or exciting. I don't like hangovers either.

I hope natural healthy living becomes the norm eventually so that people who live clean healthy lives aren't always called "health nuts" by people who don't.

I am not a 'health nut' nor am I a vegan or vegetarian. I don't even take vitamins or go to health food stores. (they are too far away from where I live in a remote area.) I don't always eat healthy food either.

I just try not to poison myself when I find out something is bad, I avoid it.

If a person does not drink or smoke or take drugs, that does not qualify them as a health nut. laugh laugh laugh

I'm in decent shape. However, my body hurts, and hurts worse every year. I work on the farm, but that kind of work wears the body out, despite all the good stuff I try and do to stay healthy. I'm more physically active then most people I know, and can work harder, longer and more in general then the same most people. Such is life.

Drinks on rare occassion, eats decently healthy, not a smoker.

I workout at the gym regularly, watch what I eat. Never add salt to anything, avoid fat. You gotta have fun somtimes though and if I'm in the mood for beer and pizza I'm having beer and pizza.

Well I made a small attempt of taking care of myself and then got into a nasty car accident in 2003 in which I had severe injuries to my knees, back, and neck; my doctor said I wouldn't walk again. After 4 long years or recovery; I realized just how fragile a human body is. So, now I exercise a lot; eat right, and even cut back on the drinking. So, I won't take my body for granted after coming so close to ending up in a wheel chair.

drool

ok, back to the topic at hand...

OP: Yes, I put much effort into taking care of myself... never smoked, drink socially (more in the summer months, go figure)... I exercise 4-6 days per week, I enjoy cycling very much - spin during the winter... light workouts with weights, cycle and spin for cardio - I am up early - usually to bed early (11:00pm)... I sleep well, eat right, no fast food, no soda pop, no added sugar or salt for me. I try to eat no or as little trans fat as possible (only natural and unsaturated fat) I try hard to eat normal "real" foods, not processed foods... I feel good, I think I look good - I have lots of energy and I am told consistantly that I look 8-10 years younger than I am...

Why do I do this? I like living and breathing !! :)....
