We know there are real conspiracies and real bad guys....

Watergate.... etc.

What conspiracy theories do you believe?

I can't answer that, because ... (are we alone?) ... they're listening ... they're everywhere, you know ...

Remember this, you are not paranoid if everyone IS really out to get you.

I have some doubts about the legitimacy of the moon landings. I even used that as a basis for two of the stories in my second book.

Me too. I am actually very split on that one. On the one hand one of my alternate selves says, "What are you nuts? Of course we landed on the moon! They couldn't have faked that."

Then my conspiracy nut alternate self says: "There is no way they ever landed on the moon! It was just not possible back then! I doubt if they have ever been on the surface of the moon.

I've done a lot of reading on the subject -- and it turns out that a lot of the "we never landed on the moon" arguments are pretty flimsy and easily dismissible.

On the other hand, there are a few that seem really solid and no one has convincingly debunked them, as far as I'm concerned.

I think the things that sway me the most are Kennedy's comments about being on the moon before the end of the decade (1960s), the apparent need to beat the Soviets there, and the fact that the landings just stopped so abruptly for no apparent reason.

I used a sort of vague analogy in one of my stories -- a kid is shoplifting comic books from a pharmacy, and gets away with it 3 times. This is the same kid who, in 1983, notices that there's a very clear and obvious human thumbprint on one of the moon rocks in one of the old moon landing films. The implication is that, maybe NASA and the government decided to stop faking the landings because they figured they'd get caught sooner or later if they kept it up.

In another story, the kid starts asking too many questions and ends up with his memory altered so he will forget seeing the thumbprint.

But the resolution to that particular plot point is still to come.

After reading The Illuminatus! Trilogy, it did make me wonder if there really is a secret society like the Illuminati.

Those sound really good.

Thanks! It's actually a lot more complicated and involved than what I've explained here, but I don't want to go too far off-track....!

We went to the moon. There were thousands of people involved and few of them are smart enough to keep it a secret. Thousands also watched them crawl into the capsule, blast off, and the craft was tracked by other countries all the way to the moon. Once you get out of Earth's gravity, the rest is easy.

I think there is a conspiracy to bankrupt the United States and install a socialized form of government. I think part of that conspiracy is to open the borders and admit as many uneducated voters as possible.

that 9/11 was an inside job

and

that JFK and MLK's death were government planned and implemented

and

Bush stealing that first election

,,,,thats about it that comes to mind as probable to me though

did you ever see a movie, I think the name was , wag the dog?

sometimes I think the government is complicit(at the very least) in allowing things to unfold so that they can get support for controversial decisions against other countries

I think the government was aware of the plan for 9/11 and allowed it to happen to give them support to invade Iraq (its how afghanistan turned into the AXIS OF EVIL which included Iraq)

in that , perhaps its more accurate for me to say I believe the government was complicit in the events of 9/11

"Inside job" is a bit far stretched indeed. But I wouldn't rule out rouge elements within the government knowingly not doing a damn thing, the USA needed a crisis like Sahara needs water.

About the Moon landing, you might not understand it well, but there was landings on the Moon, except with the difference, that it didn't happen the way we all saw it. I would say the first visits to the Moon were partial theater and partial truth.
What does that mean?
The government really needed footage landing on the Moon so some of the stuff were produced right here on Earth. It was "time sensitive" since the race with the USSR.. let just say "The Moon landing had to happen, regardless of what the mission outcome might have (or had) become, regardless of safety and regardless of lack of research." But I'm convinced it happened and then happened again later.

I actually do a pretty decent Steve Stone impression. Hey, he may be a little nasal, but he won 25 games and the Cy Young in 1980, that's more than I've done!
