Anybody got any thoughts on this one? The first holiday that always comes to anybody's head as the worst holiday to have for a birthday is Christmas. Personally I have to disagree. I would have to say Memorial Day. It wasn't always the last Monday in May. Traditional Memorial Day is 30 May. Those of us old enough to remember can attest to it being on any day of the week up until I think Regan's first term. Just my thoughts, but I wouldn't want to have to hear "Happy Birthday, now let's go see your grandfather's grave."

I think any hoilday for a bday would suck. My bday always falls on fathers day weekend. I have a twin....its bad enough I have to share my day w/ her but we celebrate Grandma's bday and fathers day all together....so its EVERYONES day

Now that's the best day to have a Birthday if there ever was one! Always a Party! |

I would say Halloween. It's fun as a kid
but when you grow up and have kids, you don't have a birthday anymore. |

my b-day is really close to Xmas, and it's no fun. Everyone is too busy to celebrate my day!

I had a coworker who's Birthday was September 11. Bummer. Humm yeah mine is the 10th close enough..... As far as the days it fall on and the lets go to the grave site that pretty much can fall on any day..... My Dads B-Day was on St. Patrick's day at one time that was always kewl when growing up till he passed away now that day no longer seems so kewl... So regardless what day it falls on when it comes to that sense it could always be a bad day............ But I would still say Christmas for those that Celebrate it would be a tough one to have. One of my cousins is on Christmas Eve but they always made sure they made it special for him so in reality it can work out for the best...........at times heck at least others are more likely to remember your Birthday in the end......... |

Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day all celebrate life. Well, maybe not so much Halloween, but I've never been to any better parties than Halloween parties. Memorial day and those poor people with September 11 for a birthday coincide with days that remember death. Not the best thing to remember on the anniversary of your birth.

But you normally don't get to go to
Halloween parties when you have kids unless it's before or after the holiday. |

One of my sister's birthdays is September 12'th. She lived in New York City for 9/11.
I think having your birthday on St. Patty's would suck... especially if you didn't drink. Hehe. "Hey, I got you half a bottle of whiskey!" |

My b-day is 2 weeks after x-mas and I liked it when I was a kid cause I would get presents at x-mas and then on my b-day.

two out of my three kids are born during a long-weekend/holiday and i find that most of the invitees are off vacationing somewhere and have to miss the party.
i'd say christmas would be the worst, especially when you were a kid. |

There's only one thing worse than a holiday birthday. When everyone thinks your birthday is a week after the real one (thanks Mom). Also, when everyone knows your birthday, but no one celebrates it.<---That's how it is now.

My birthday is shortly after New Year's so it typical to hear"Here's your Christmas & birthday present".What stuff I got on my birthday was slim pickings because everyone was broke from the holidays. After a while I realized that I couldn't do anything about it & decided to take it in stride-I figured I was better off looking at it that way.

Two of my kids have birthdays right after Christmas---December 29th and December 30th. They get the "here is your birthday and Christmas present"---when in reality it is the same thing that they would have got for there birthday or Christmas. I don't do that, but there is family and friends that do.
It is also hard to throw a birthday party for them as people are usual gathering with family the weekend before and going out for the new years afterwards. Than the fact that there is two of them I am told all the time "just have both the parties at once". I am sure my 12 year old daughter wants her 10 year old brothers friends around---and vise versa. I think any holiday steals the spotlight from a birthday that happens to land on it. |
