Nevertheless,
Resistance is futile ONLY in the face of the INSURMOUNTABLE FORCE!

That would be in the face of things we cannot change.

Or have no business trying to change.... like the true nature of someone else.

Not necessarily. Many things we could change, if the force were a little less insurmountable!

As for the true nature of someone else, Give mme a whip and I'll show you how fast they change their nature!!! laugh

Have you wondered what would happen if an insurmountable force collided with an immovable object?

Resistance is futile.

That is just the way it is.

It is for the greater good.

God knows better than we do.

These are some of the sayings that should make all people stop and assess what is being sold to them because it is probably not a good thing.

Experience does influence people to 'change' but they change per their own free will. Any time you mess with a persons free will and feel that you have 'changed' them, you are only kidding yourself. In the end, people will do what they choose to do if they aspire to be free. Of course some people may choose not to aspire to be free and will choose to be subservient to others in the hope that their masters will be responsible for them and care for them.

Freedom and responsibility to self go hand in hand.

I agree, but I would like you to be more specific. I explained by example what I mean by resistance being futile. It is resistance to what is and to the truth of a situation. I suppose you could say it is internal resistance to something that you don't have the power (or right) to change.

In all situations you just have to evaluate the situation and do what you think is right or best at the time. If you are in denial about it, or refuse to see the truth, it will just give you pain and take you longer to deal with it.

If course this is only applicable to people who hold truth and honesty up as an ideal way to live their lives. Some people would rather create their own version of reality to the extreme opposite of what is true.

What ever gets one through the day. I am putting forth these ideas only for people who are in that particular place. These are mostly my ideas for dealing with reality, and they work for me at this time as I evaluate what is real and what I have the power to change.

It boils down to the moment of NOW. Right NOW in this moment, you must accept reality for what it is and for what is happening and evaluate it with a clear head, not with emotional resistance to it. Then you can move forward and take appropriate action to effect change.

It is the power of NOW. You can only take action in the present moment. Therefore, it is best to be clear headed and accept the present moment for what it is, keeping your mind out of the past and out of the future. Focus on Now and what is. This is where you will find clarity.

When you focus on the present moment (Now) and accept it for what it is, this is where faith comes in.

Faith has to come in here because you have no way of knowing everything about how the universe works or how it arrived at this place.

I accept that my point of view is extremely limited to a pinhole in the face of all the cause that moves around me. I can only have faith that the laws of the universe are at work and that this moment has arrived because of all of these laws. I can only access and evaluate the immediate and personal situation as it relates to me.

Resistance is resistance to the laws that keep this universe together and balanced. This resistance may surface as anger and other emotions and pain. I know this will probably not make sense to most people, but maybe someone will have a glimmer of understanding about what I am saying. If not, its okay with me.

I accept that. happy

It depends what you are talking about
I believe that acquiescence, in general, is far more futile than resistance.Non-violent diplomatic resistance against remediable injustice is just too much work for most people to handle, but in the end by acquiescing with society and just flocking to glossy distractions rather than attending to real issues is basically saying...I surrender
of course there are many things we cannot hope to change, its just a matter of choosing your spots.

This is a good thing to think about too. You have your life and there are many causes to choose from to spend your life supporting or fighting for, or you can just live your life the best you can.

Some people need a cause to define their existence. Our duration on this earth is limited. How you choose to spend your time and your life is the important decision you have to make.

Completely agreed
I personally believe the best way I can utilize my time on this earth is by helping others realize that they can better help themselves
while enjoying carnal pleasures, and voicing myself about issues which I feel the most passionate about.
My personal cause is the protection of civil liberties and fighting to protect personal privacy
for fun I like to meet people interested in exploring the wayay other people see the world...understanding the interaction between culture and thought
and hopefully writing a book about how the twitter/youtube generation is affected by our scatterbrained culture
but I like to have a good time as well

His words struck me as basically true when I read them. My interpretation was:

We are built to experience pain, pain is part of how the universe communicates with us. Being alive, sensing our environment, and feeling pain are all interrelated.

However, we cause ourselves a great deal of extra pain by the habits of our minds, and sometimes by making the same bad choices over and over again. We can call this 'suffering', maybe...in any case, its clearly unnecessary (optional).

Or its exactly as necessary as the stubbornness of the person who hasn't learned to make better choices - including the choice of their own habits of thought.

Very good. People suffer mostly in their minds. When we resist what is, we cause our own suffering.

For most people in today's world, 'suffering' amounts to not being able to choose between a 'Slurpee' and a 'Slushie' ...

too much work ...

Whom do you consider to be the twitter/youtube generation? Also, when referring to our "scatterbrained culture" what attributes are you using to define "scatterbrained"?
