when did black history teach hate or victimhood?,, I was raised with examples of people who overcame obstacles and persevered,,,, designing something for one exclusive group is not the same as teaching ABOUT one specific group,,particularly in a situation where they have previously been nearly excluded ,,,,, this should be reworded, in my opinion, so that those who have been excluded from the conversation in the past cannot CONTINUE to be excluded,,,, it is no more hateful for americans to learn about the history of Black folks or mexican folks in america than it is for black folks and mexicans in america to learn about the history of white folks in america,,,,,,like it or not,,because of segregation and racism of our past,,,the races have collectively(not exclusively) pretty much had different experiences which should ALL be considered significant,,, You mean to say this white boy has to teach you black history?? Isn't that just so ironic? ![]() Two examples. There are many more. Most notorious. Black Panthers are a radical, extremist revolutionary group to be proud of. They preach black power, not pride. Aren't you familiar with them? I applied to join the black revolutionaries. Do you believe they turned me down? ![]() ![]() How about Huey Newton. He's prepared to shoot the enemy. Only problem with that is, he's pictured here in the US. What enemy was he prepared to shoot? HMMMM. Here are some of his humanitarian quotes, Any unarmed people are slaves, or are subject to slavery at any given moment. Huey Newton I do not expect the white media to create positive black male images. Huey Newton (Why is he such a hater of people different than him?) I expected to die. At no time before the trial did I expect to escape with my life. Yet being executed in the gas chamber did not necessarily mean defeat. It could be one more step to bring the community to a higher level of consciousness. Huey Newton I have the people behind me and the people are my strength. Huey Newton I think what motivates people is not great hate, but great love for other people. (Saying that with a gun in his hand.) ![]() Huey Newton If you stop struggling, then you stop life. Huey Newton My fear was not of death itself, but a death without meaning. Huey Newton Sometimes if you want to get rid of the gun, you have to pick the gun up. Huey Newton The first lesson a revolutionary must learn is that he is a doomed man. Huey Newton The policemen or soldiers are only a gun in the establishments hand. They make the racist secure in his racism. Huey Newton The revolution has always been in the hands of the young. The young always inherit the revolution. Huey Newton There's no reason for the establishment to fear me. But it has every right to fear the people collectively - I am one with the people. Huey Newton (One of which is he referring to?) Not much to say about Seale. He was pretty much Huey's gopher. Now, Bobby's pushin' barbeque. And he ain't even packin' his rod while doin' it. Aren't you familiar with them? A prominent black panther member hung out at my house once (my roommate was the local coordinator for speakers). I think it was Elaine Brown, but I could have the wrong name. She told us that the black panthers evolved tremendously over time.
Initially, they intended on being entirely isolationist, but when they sought doctors to help in their free clinics, and people to contribute funds and other resources to their cause, they found that the successful black professionals wanted nothing to do with them, and that there was an abundance of white professionals tripping over themselves to atone for some of their 'privilege guilt'. She said (in different words) that seeing how much white people were willing to contribute to their cause, even while being kept completely on the sidelines organizationally, helped to temper a bit of the anti-white hatred and racism which was central to black panther culture. |

The same has happened in the NOI, people have realized that unless you are the class in power, there is little you can truly accomplish completely on your own. Even Farakkhan has reached out more recently across racial lines to try and implement certain changes within the community he tries to represent. It truly does take a village, but it has to start with one individual, than one family, than one neighborhood,,,etc,,,,,,,,it never just STOPS at one individual or family though. |
