Do you like Obama more or less now than when he became president?

more, I respect and admire the way he has stood up to opposition and conflict,,,

I love the credit card bill of rights
that insurance cant deny pre existing conditions
the focus on childrens health
the motivation for children to work hard and believe for success
the movement towards ending the war in Iraq
the energy partnership with Canada and South America
funding for EEOC
rebuilding of schools in New Orleans
funding for EPA

,,,the list of things Im pleased with goes on and on,,and that it has been done in such a relatively short time considering how much work had to be done on the healthcare issue,,

I think , short of him killing someone, or starting an unnecessary war,,,very little I can think of will make me feel anything but utmost respect for this President especially relative to the others in my lifetime

Wow. That's an impressive list.

Too bad HE hasn't actually DONE ANY OF IT.

His lapdogs in the House and Senate did.

All HE did was put his signature on those things.

FAIL

lol, well I suppose by that standard he shouldnt be hated for anything either,, because he needs those same 'lapdogs' for all the things people DIDNT like,,

How about cheating on his wife??

The National Enquirer is reporting that they have " eyewitness " reports.

I know...I know....it's the Enquirer.

However, keep in mind that they were the FIRST to break the John Edwards affair story.

I would be very disappointed if it were true, but I would be too busy watching the pigs flying to act on the disappointment,,lol

nah, he isnt my messiah, but his record PRIOR to presidency doesnt show a tendency towards it( and believe me if they had found any indication it would have been all over) and his dedication to his kids in combination with his history make it highly unlikely

its not IMPOSSIBLE,, just kind of unlikely given whats known of him so far,,, kind of would surprise me as much as finding out Bush was a member of MENSA ( not saying its impossible,, just that noone would see that coming,,)

I guess Mensa doesn't mean anything eh? I'm guessing your not a member of that either.

just saying, what exactly? still no facts regarding the OP and how many thwarted attacks there have been on american soil?,,ok,, just for the humor,,,

I went to a normal local university, my parents werent alumni at any ivy league schools. I didnt join the military,, but I wasnt from a military family and had school grades which didnt make military very appealing to me. I havent earned millions, neither has Bush, but thats another debate earning vs inheriting,,,or being given,,,

I have not been elected to any office,,but I wouldnt want to be,, too much scrutiny and idealism from the public

Im not a member of MENSA, if I were , you could be surprised,, just like I would be surprised if Bush was,,, and by the way, mensa has nothing to do with what college you go to , or how much you earn, or even if you are a politician,,, but they were interesting questions for passing the time,,,

I simply do not try to give him credit for things he hasn't done.

Nor will I dislike him for things the lapdogs have done.

However, considering that Obama was one of the first to step up and say how " misguided " a state was for wanting federal law enforced, THAT he WILL most definitely get the " credit " for when the amnesty law that we all know is coming passes.

He gets NO credit ( no matter how much you may want to give it to him ) for health care because he had nothing to do with it. He, himself, had no plan to present.

He has not presented his OWN plan for any of the things you seem so eager to give him the credit for.

must be a complicated point if it cant be summed up directly in a sentence or two....just saying

MY point was that I would be surprised if a man who has no HISTORY of cheating or even womanizing and who has been under INTENSE scrutiny for everything he does (or is accused of doing) and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard,, would be foolish or prideful enough to be messing around on a strong and intelligent wife with whom he has two children he seems to adore,,

putting aside the fact that he is OBama and whatever personal feelings people might have towards him, ,giving what IS known, I would be surprised if he were cheating,,given what IS known about Bush and his acedemic career and basic grasp of english,, I would be surprised if he were a member of MENSA,,,,,,get the point ?

from howstuffworks

the Constitution lays out rules and duties for the president.

The president serves terms of four years.
During that time, he or she must oversee the faithful execution of U.S. laws.
He or she must take this oath: "I do so solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The president serves as commander in chief of the U.S. military as well as state militias when they're activated under federal command.
The president can grant pardons, except in cases of where he or she has been impeached.
He or she can make treaties with other nations, with consent of the Senate.
The president can appoint Supreme Court justices, ambassadors and other public officers (such as Cabinet secretaries), with Senate confirmation.
He or she can convene or adjourn both houses of Congress, if deemed necessary.
The president must report to Congress in a State of the Union address.
He or she must receive foreign heads of state and officials.
The president is compensated (currently, $400,000 a year, plus $50,000 in expenses and $100,000 in travel expenses).
Should the president be accused of high crimes and misdemeanors, he or she can be removed from office through impeachment.
The president must propose bills to Congress.
He or she can block Congressional bills from becoming law through the veto power.

guess what OBAMA proposed to congress,,,,Healthcare Reform,,,

here is more on what he personally PROPOSED
http://www.healthreform.gov/obamaplan.html

the plan was not his presidential duty,,,or responsibility,, just the proposal...

I give him credit for having the balls to PROPOSE such a reform and see it through,,,

as to immigration law in Arizona being misguided,, I read nowhere the he opposed laws being enforced,,,the question about the bill was in the wording and how it allowed for profiling,, whether it was thought out or coming from sheer sentiment(much the same argument those opposing healthcare gave, except perhaps without using the same term 'misguided'. They knew something needed to be done, what was in question was whether the proposed solution was logical or merely emotional)

as to amnesty, if he grants it, I will be sorely disappointed,, but we cross that bridge when we come to it and the bridge thats already behind him, in my eyes , is full of hard work and success,,,

1- He has promised amnesty. (That'll prolly be one promise he actually follow through with. Aside for the one about taking the greatest country in the world and changing all that. He is keeping that promise.)slaphead

2-The meetings of the three heads of state to discuss and agree on SPP are common knowledge. The things agreed on are what's being kept secret. The blueprints for NAU are being kept under tight wraps also.(However, Americans would be bored over all those pesky little details and it's not about power or control. World leaders have the peons, uh, common people's, best interests on their minds and would never do anything that would oppress them.)rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl ill ill slaphead

The man PROMISED to change the way things were done in Washington.

Washington said HA HA HA....Obama joined them in the laugh

Major campaign promises.... lost and forgotten once elected...

Transparency and Ethics....promise broken/look at the way health care was done...more backroom backpatting and dividing up the loot than mobsters. Tax cheat nominees accepted. Conflicts of Interest nominees accepted.

Lobbyist will not work in my administration....another good one

Called for the elimination of earmarks....Obama could have had the guts to veto the first bill with earmarks.

Guantanamo and the Patriot Act....Dick C is grinning ear to ear and chuckling

That is only the short list....

well, at least you got two right this time. HE hasnt moved on the Patriot Act and lobbyists are working.

However, he never said he would ELIMINATE earmarks,, he said they needed to be reformed and 'wasteful spending' (an admittely subjective term) needs to be eliminated.

As far as changing how things are done, no he DIDNT hold all meetings or the healthcare meetings in front of a camera,,,but I dont recall receiving email updates about the status of white house issues before, nor could I see on the website who came and went to the white house, OBama signed an executive order for timely release of presidential records AND ended gifts from lobbyist ...although some transparency points were broken, he has actually succeeded in being MORE Transparent than the previous administration.

Oh, and he has been working to close Guantanamo as well, but as with most issues(and as I repeatedly state) noone can promise what others will do. This applies to Presidents who must work with the congress and senate as well.

I didn't like him at all during the election. But since he has been there awhile I've come to respect him. He has done some things not very well and he has done some things very well. But I think he is sincere in his desire to improve the country. The Democrat philosophy is to use government to improve the country and he is following that

He is just a Democrat President and doing the stuff you would expect from a Democrat. But has turnd out to be much more moderate than I expected.

I imagine he'll be just fine
