Topic: Why do you like guns? | |

the military taught me to kill with them, I supported my family hunting for extra food on the table, havent hunted in years now they are just for protection, hope I never need to use them!!

Yes, well, as a pacifst/hippie type almost killed now more than once ... It is a dilemma, of that I'm certain ... Still, I would have shot them, had I a gun, as what they were doing was SO wrong it would have likely been best they were not left to EVER do it again ... That, plus the fact I barely survived ... What is one to do in such an armed society ... ???? ... Kill or be killed comes to mind, and I'm not big on being murdered or tortured again ... When I lived in England, the SWAT team had to make a final call to the Queen before unlocking their guns ... ... I so WELL appreciated a society where the Bobbies carried billy clubs in lieu of guns!!! The States are ANYTHING but that ... I'm sorry people suck. This is where I'm confused... The last best guess was about 350,000,000 Total guns in USA. That would be 1 weapon for every man woman and child. The average gun enthusiast owns several firearms which includes pistols, shotguns, and rifles of all makes and models. People are still getting mugged in America? chances of getting shot in the groin are pretty high no? Still the violence continues... So I figure mass extermination is the only option Vote for me and nobody gets hurt |

So I figure mass extermination is the only option Vote for me and nobody gets hurt Yanno, the ole story ... Predators specialize in just knowing who to target ... Nah, it's been a looooooooong time ago now, because surviving and experience gave me the street sense needed to never again be targeted ... Never carried anything stronger than mace and never needed it, due to my claimed, acutely sharpened savvy that surviving it all gave me ... Hate the comment that we need to shoot to kill, in order not to be sued ... That should speak volumes for where we are at 2010 State Side ... Here in Colorado it is the "Make My Day" law, ala Dirty Harry/Clint Eastwood film, no shite ... Each state has differing shades of grey on the shoot to kill in your home/on your property ... Here in CO, law interpreted is sayin' to kill 'em ... ... It's kewl ... I like the Swiss thang ... No hand guns, every home should have a protecting gun, literally from the Gov. (as if, in modern day technological terms, whatta joke ...) ... We began on the same premise: Armed to overthrow a corrupt Government ... Such is no longer even possible, therein lies the conundrum and bad joke on us ... We are, indeed, TOO armed and only against one another at this juncture ... Yeah, I vote for you ... |

Where I live and have lived, guns are a tool. Sometimes they can save your LIFE! Litterally! Just as I wouldn't think of leaving my house without one, I would NEVER take one to town.
We have prediators here. Cougar, wild hog, rattlesnakes. wild animals, I manage a RANCH..I don't live in a condo in town, or work in an office. I drive alone thru some badass country. If my truck breaks down or gets stuck when a creek floods, you bet I'll have a gun with me on the LONG walk back, cell phones don't always get a signal where I go.and even if they did, it could be hours before someone found me. The right to carry arms? You bet I believe in it! I live by it. All you men and women who hate the thought of guns, come live in my world for awhile. Walk through brush that is up to your knees and hear that 6-8 foot rattlesnake send his warning and SEE if you aren't looking for something to kill it with! |

That makes GREAT sense, Vivian, thanx for that GOOD reminder ... I live in the Rockies, I'm sure the deep in the mountains folks would agree ... Esp. given we have bears, mountain lions, wolves, snakes, boar, rabid critters and more ... |

I thought folks needed to know that guns are used for other reasons than robbing and killing other people. Yes, it's the same in the mountains or the desert, any wild country has it's dangers. I just happen to live in brush country, but have lived in the desert also. I'm a woman alone and can't call for someone to come protect me when I get in a bind. |

I don't own any guns.
I just surround my house with bear traps and punji pits. I feel real safe but the screaming keeps me up some nights. And taking out the garbage has gotten to be a real pain. |

Yep, all true, and as I've recanted, some of the varmints are lethal, crazzzeee humans ... I'm a woman alone too ... Also, as many have said, hunting is what they do ... food source! I really don't ever want to need to use one on anyone (who does?!), but I also want it there should I be forced to!!! It is the world we live in ... Always those that ruin a good thing, uh, Vivian ... |

I posted a pic on another thread and the caption was "roping on our ranch" They thought it was animal cruality! For goodness sake, how do they think we catch cattle out on the range to doctor them??? Walk up and say "PLEASE???" I would hope and pray to God that I NEVER had to use a weapon against another person....BUT, as in your case??? You bet I would! No one has the right to rape or hurt a woman, child or man for that matter! |

When I was in Alaska, the law required you to carry a gun in the plane at all times. If you were forced down you became bear dinner.
