Hmmmm ... This thread made me uncomfortable at first, kinda feels like braggin' to name drop a bevy all at once ...

blushing ... But, OK, y'all are all goin' ...

Guess I'll chime in too ... *gulp*

... I've a great many musician friends from a lil inner circle in Texas, who were big, undiscovered nobodies back in 'The Day' ...

... Some could scarcely fill the Wed. night special at Anderson Fair, back when ...

Some never 'made it' and were even greater talents than those that did...

Mental health, alcohol, cocaine and heroin figured largely in the formulae ...

Those that finally did hit 'the big time', that you'd all perhaps recognize ...

Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan, Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Lucinda Williams, Guy Clark and the ilk, etc ... (... Hope I didn't just leave anyone out!)

In this group, one that SHOULD have hit the big time, but his 'issues' took him out, was/is Eric Taylor ... Fantastic ... Check his music out ...

Famous clients include a lot of Reagan Era White House folks, think I'd be wise to not name drop these on the web ...

And ... Lotta famous 'Houston Oil Barons/Baronesses and Night Club/Restraurateurs' were also clients ...

I once massaged Roger Daltrey ...

Jerry Jeff Walker's wife massaged me ...

I poured a pitcher of beer on Kinky Friedman's head ...

Aaron Neville and Taj Mahal asked me out at separate times; didn't go w/ either - figured they were on the road, likely married playahs ...

Don Knotts came for dinner in my childhood ...

... As did the Blue Angels ...

My Dad was a bit of his own famous person, back to White House/Intelligence/Military schtuff ...

I went to school w/ all the original astronauts kids ... (I'm from the Clear Lake City, TX, NASA area)

Partied w/ U2 in Eire one night, didn't even realize it at first ...

Ridley Scott's son, Luke, was a great friend and client in London ...

Dunno, prolly more ...

scared ... This is the hardest to push send post I've ever written, feels weird to speak this ... *closes her eyes and pushes post anyway* ... shades

Edit ... OMG! I forgot Lightnin' Hopkins, the Beatles fav musician ...

... Houston ghetto child, He mentored Townes Van Zandt and others of the above named ...

Eric Johnson was a dear friend's beau ... Dang, know I'm leavin' others out!

I've met and shaken hands with Rudy Guliani. I've met Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), and Roy Campanella (Hall of Fame catcher from the Brooklyn Dodgers) when I was ten. I've actually spent quite a bit of time talking to, and was even in the house of Dee Snider.

There are quite a few others I've seen close up and shaken hands with, but that'll do for now.

Awwwwwww Kat far beyond a bragging post just to inspire a few to go down memory lane and tell a few stories of those they have met in their past.

It is always nice to hear how different meets came about and what happen as well.

These are stories that everyone should tell their kids...grand kids or other family members down the road they would be fascinated by it.shocked

Love the stories..............bigsmile

When I was a child, we spent every summer in
Laguna Beach, CA, at my grandparents beach house.
Lots of movie stars about.
My mother, the ex beauty queen, loved to
prance my sister and I on the beach, to get attention.
Ozzie and Harriet and David and Ricky were
always there.

One day, she pushed me, literally, over to
where Ozzie was holding court.
I was resisting mightily and we got loud.
Ozzie heard us and beckoned me over.
Sat me on his lap. "What is wrong sweetheart?"
With the wisdom of my 5 years I calmly explained
to him that my Mother was insisting that he
was Ozzie Nelson. I was very indignant.
Because I knew he could not be..I watched
Ozzie & Harriet weekly, and Ozzie, as everyone
knew, had dark hair.
This guy's hair was as white as could be.
And I told him so.

He started laughing, his head thrown back, and
the other people around him were gathering close.
"Well, you are a very smart little girl" he said.
"Who do I look like then?" I studied his face.
I said, "You look like a Fred." This made him
howl with laughter.
He insisted everyone around him start calling
him Fred.
I spent the afternoon on his lap and he
questioned me about a lot of things. He seemed
greatly amused and of course, I had no
idea why. Only that he kept waving my Mother
away and that was good enough for me.

From then on, every day, he would call me
over to sit on his lap and converse.
About anything on my mind.
Oh yes, I always had a lot to say :-)
Over the years, I would RUN down to his
part of the beach when first we got there and
he always swept me up and hugged me to
beat the band. And we would talk and talk.
Harriet was rarely there but the boys were.
He would have them babysit me if I was
alone and he had to go. The boys were crazy
for my beautiful aunt, and would do anything
for their Dad and her hottiness.

There were years I did not see him, then he
would be there.
We were like old buddies. I think he appreciated
the genuineness of a child. I was thrilled that
someone could intimidate my Mother :-)
He died the year I got married, I think he might
have come to it.

He gave me quite the letch for older men :-)
I miss him still.
I named my cat Fred.

I was a bouncer at a very big Rock & Roll bar. Myself and the owner would set up bands to play. One of the bands was MC5. I had a party at my farm in Michigan and invited the group. Ted Nugent showed up with them. Crazy as hell and so much fun. It is true, I never saw him drink or drug...

I was the security for the medical tent at the first US Festival. It was hot as hell and we were getting ready the day before, and Pat Benitar rode up on a white horse and talked to our crew and sprayed us with a bottle of water....She is BEAUTIFUL.

I have met with many Joint Chiefs of Staff in the military, and when I was injured in Viet Nam, I was medivaced to Norfolk, Naval Hospital...As a corpsman, we were short handed, so even as a patient, I helped the best i could....A saline IV bottle fell and broke. I was getting to the shut off to stop the blood from infitrating, and someone was in my way...I said "Get the hell of of the way??? A LT nurse said Attention on Deck, and was IN MY FACE....I just told Admiral Big Shot and General Westmorland to get the hell out of the way....The Admiral told the nurse that they better get the hell out of the way, that corpsman has work to do.

I have had a wonderful life and met many more, so called famous people....But the people that impress me most are the military men and women I have had the honor to work, and fight next to..Elwoodsully, I am sure will tell you the same.

Great stories for sure have really enjoyed reading each and everyone of them..............

Hummm well for my second time I just happened to be in the right place at the right time was summer of 1993. This was just shortly after my divorce I had went out and bought a small travel trailer and had planned a vacation to San Antonio.

River Walk, Alamo and the Lone Star Brewer here we come.......... Well the evening we decided to hit the River Walk we had been to the Lone Star Brewer and made the round through the Alamo. When we got to the River Walk as we walked through the hotel lobby my kids that were 10 & 8 at the time saw the glass elevator as it went up and back down. They started begging me to ride it I shook my head thinking I bring them here to see the sites and low and behold they want to ride the elevator....noway

Hummmm well finally I gave in and said what the heck a friend of mine had went with us and was in charge of the video camera at the time. Well we get in the elevator and after about 4 times of the up and down I finally told the kids okay this is enough lets hit the River Walk once we get back to the bottom.

No sooner had I said this when we made a stop on one of the top floors for others to enter. I must have dropped my jaw as the doors opened and there before me stood Johnny Cash & June Carter.

As they entered the elevator with us I was giving a sharp nudge to my friend that had my camcorder saying ya know who that is? That is Johnny Cash & June Carter.

Well my friend was a ham he stepped right on in there and asked Johnny Cash if he minded if he turned on the Camcorder and could he shake his hand? They both just stood there and starting laughing that big ole hearty laugh and said no go right ahead.

Yeppiers still got it all on a VCR tape to this day.... As we sat and ate a little later we saw them walking down the River Walk hand n hand. It was amazing no one bothered them as they strolled down and looked at the sites. It was just them two no body guards reporters no one. It was great............whoa Hummmm and all due to and elevator ride......

So how many have actually met someone that was famous in one way or the other. Now I'm not talking just seeing them in concert. Who have you actually accidentally or even lucked into meeting to the point you actually was able to shake their hand or at least a few words with them?........................surprised

Tell us your story about your moment with fame..............whoa

How it happened and where inquiring minds want to know??????????

I almost hit Dustin Hoffman with my car. True story. Does that count?

Before they were famous,, Angie Everhardt(model) and Melina Kanakiredes(actress on CSI NY) were my classmates. Angie wasnt there often because she was doing her modeling thing even in high school , had alot of money, and didnt mingle much,,,,

Melina, on the other hand, was one of our first foreign exchange students (from Greece). She was WAYYYY cool and sweet and few people know that she can really really sing(we were in choir together). She used to giggle in class with me because our names are very similar, she was very popular and deservedly so.

When I was a kid I took the red eye from L.A. to N.Y. and sat next to Tony Curtis, only thing is I had no idea who he was; I thought my Aunts looked way too excited to see me when he walked me off of the plane.

Growing up in Los Angeles I spent a lot of time in Hollywood during my late teens and thru my mid twenties. We hung out mostly at The Whiskey (a-go-go, back then), The Roxy and Gazary’s. I have net and partied with a host of bands. Quiet riot, Faster Pussycat, Tom Petty, L.A. Guns, Cheap Trick, The Runaways, Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Van Halen…on and on...

David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony once picked me up at my house in a limo (much to the dismay of my mother) and we took off to their show in Phoenix. I returned home three days later…Michael Anthony became pretty good friends with my mom, frequently eating at the restaurant she managed in Glendora CA.

I had this girl that I was totally head over heels for she broke up with me so she could go out with Nikki Sixx, the bass player for Motley Crue. It was just before they got their record deal and we used to hang out with them all the time. I knew Vince Niel before he joined the band. This was when Heather Locklear was seeing Tommy Lee (don’t ever try to out drink her, she can put the whiskey away let me tell ya...)

My best friend used to live across the street from Danny Bonaduce and we used to go over there and drink beer and play Backgammon... He was pretty good, at both.
I could do two pages on the sports figures I have met, but I won’t…at least not today
