A Florida doctor who opposes the new health care law posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Obama to get care "elsewhere," the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The sign on Dr. Jack Cassell's door reads, "Changes to your health care begin right now. Not in four years," the Sentinel said.

Cassell, a urologist, told the newspaper that he's not turning anyone away.

"That would be unethical," he said. "But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it."

A registered Republican, Cassell is providing his patients with photocopies of a health-care timeline produced by Republican leaders that outlines "major provisions" in the health care law -- and he's placed a sign above the stack of copies that reads, "This is what the morons in Washington have done to your health. Take one, read it and vote out anyone who voted for it."

Cassell told the newspaper that a patient's politics wouldn't affect his care for them, but he added he would prefer not to treat people who support Obama.

"I can at least make a point," he said.

It may not be unethical per se, but it's sure unprofessional. What's next, the RNC handing out endorsements for campaign contributions from an "approved" practitioners list?

Having a space on job applications requiring one to state one's political affiliation?

-Kerry O. "Maybe a country like that in 'V for Vendetta' isn't as far off as we think."

And so the divisiveness begins!

Yes it is a one line reply.

Glad someone is standing up to the farce we have being forced on us!

Actually the doctor shouldn't be allowed to pratice on any one whose insurance is covered by the government . The fact is he would not be able to take care of anyone as he should because of his bigottry . Why should he be allowed to pig out with the rest of the doctors who give good care willingly ...Dump the garabge ...

It probably falls under freedom of expression,, and perhaps we should take the good expression with the bad

makes me wonder though,, if folks could post signs saying no negros.. so long as they did actually serve black folks who bothered to ignore the 'warning' and come in,,,?

IMHO: I actually like it when businesses wear their political affiliation on their sleeve-especially since it seems to be Regressives that prevail at it: it lets me know that I should take my hard-EARNED (yes, EARNED, uptighty-righties) money to another merchant that won't likely take a portion of the share of my hard-EARNED money that they realize as profit and send it to a political party and/or it's candidates that stand for things that I don't.
Best thing for folks to do: vote with their feet. This doctor has obviously forgotten how fickle the tides of business can be, that he would risk alienating potential customers.

Well, I don't think the doctor thought this through all the way. That alone would scare me away from going to him, regardless of politics, he made a very unwise move to associate his business with his politics like that. He could have voiced his views a way that would not put his business in danger. But then again, he got us talking about it, so I guess it wasn't a completely bad move.

Also, if I went into his office and he knew I voted for Obama, how would he treat me? What kind of care would I get?

I'm not saying I voted for Obama, I certainly did not, I'm just saying.

What this doctor did was make a statement. I wish more people had the balls to stand up to this socialist regime.

And I wish the people who scream "Socialism" the loudest while refusing to buy medical insurance would have the stones to declare "If I can't pay for medical treatment, don't take me to the ER. Let me die in the street with my principles and integrity intact."

I suspect one severe bout of angina would make them change their tunes REAL quick.

Thank you for saying it.

I only add, we pay for their care now and will continue to do so. I wouldn't want to live in a world where I was forced to do otherwise. The day I must step over someone ill or stricken, is the day I take my last step
