Topic: Web hosting help needed | |
---|---|
My work website was hosted by AT&T. AT&T will no longer do any hosting. I have no clue as to where to look, who to pick, what I would need, what the new hosting company should offer, pricing etc.
It is an old webpage, but it's effective, and we only have 3-5 active email addresses at any one time. Can anyone help me or just provide me info on where/what to look for? I'd appreciate it. Thanks Fran |

it's a difficult question... I work for a larger organization - and we host our own stuff...
I for one don't like externally hosted web sites for many reasons(management, statistical reporting, content management/updates). It's hard pressed to reccomend, becuase it's easy to have a "bad experience"... It's like recommending to someone where to take your car for repairs... so many shops, so many suck, the experience at the same shop can vary widely... *sigh*... Perhaps AT&T can tell you where their customers are moving too? I find AT&T usually does not just abandon their customers and will try to help you out... $.02 |

yahoo service might work nicely for a small business webhost
you can use your own content and have several email addresses http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/ or try some of the ones recommended by webhostinggeeks http://webhostinggeeks.com/ |

I use http://www.webhostingpad.com/. It's inexpensive and does the job for me. I'm sure you can do email forwarding & I'm not exactly sure what you mean by webforwarding. It's Linux based & I haven't noticed any downtime at all.

I have used Powweb for years and it is wonderful.
I also believe it is the cheapest, under $5 a month. |

If you're still looking for a web host, totage.net is mine. At this time, I have shared hosting plans set up, but if you need anything else, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I also do domain registration, and SSL certificates. I offer some other services as well (RatePoint ad RichContent).
What kind of site do you have? How big is it disk space wise? How much bandwidth do you use per month? Any other information you could give about your site? |
