Roller ball (A wonderful movie)

Which Rollerball?
uhmmm its about a group of guys and a few girls riding bikes & skating in a game ?!make any sense?

I know what Rollerball is, I was wondering if you saw the original 70's version with James Caan which is one of my favorite scifi flicks. But you watched the remake.

So while The Horseman mightn't be the most accomplished entry in the recent New Wave of Australian horrors (see also Greg McLean's 'Wolf Creek' and 'Jamie Blanks' 'Storm Warning') this isn't to suggest it's altogether bound for the knacker's yard. There's enough potential here to suggest director Kastrissios is definitely a name to watch. He just needs to trust the fact that audiences are just as interested in characterisation and narrative as in seeing white walls repeatedly decorated with 'Neural Mist' by Dulux.

I enjoyed Storm Warning quite a bit. It was written by Everett De Roche who has written some of my favorite Aussie horror/thrillers: Long Weekend, Patrick, Roadgames, Link, Fortress '86, Razorback.

Oh, I saw Fortress and Razorback! I enjoyed them very much, though I feel they are more of an acquired taste per se.

You should watch Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation! Very entertaining documentary on Aussie exploitation/horror.

i don't like to hit the shift key so you won't see to many capitals in my spelling. i just watched the movie "american orgy". now don't be fooled by the title its not a porn.in fact i don't think i even seen one boob.its about 3 couples who have their problems and plan an orgy i guess as a quick fix. its not a horror or action. i guess it would be more of a charachter study type movie. you learn about the people their problems and realize an orgy is not the answer. its not for eveybody and it's not really my type of movie (i like horror) but i liked it.if anybody ends up watching it let me know what you think. if you look for it and porn pops up thats the wrong movie. if you're a buffy fan then it might interest you to know that the leader of the trio (can't remember his name) stars in this one.happy

Hey, loved the link. LOL! My favorite comment was made by Quentin Tarantino when he said, "they blow cars up in a way that makes you want to jerk off." laugh

I asked "Which Rollerball?" not "What is Rollerball?". Doesn't matter, I was just curious what one you watched.

I know. I'm actually developing a taste for it. I think the trend of international awareness in the movie industry is a good sign of growth and will continue to develop positive effects with the viewing public.

I checked out this movie after reading your post. All American Orgy or Cummings Farm (IMDb)-

In the tradition of "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" and "Shortbus," this film is about 3 heterosexual couples who get together for a partner-swapping evening, at the behest of Ted, a manipulative sociopath, played by the film's writer. Laura Silverman plays his wife, an obviously damaged woman whose dialog mostly consists of banalities. Gordon, a slightly charming alcoholic is played by Jordan Kessler, who also produced the film. He is initially partnered with Aimee-Lynn Chadwick's Rachel, the putative "hot chick" of the movie. Alan (Adam Busch) is the bespectacled intellectual paired up with Yasmine (Yasmine Jackson) despite the torch he carries for Rachel. The characters are by turns lovable & odious and things go desperately wrong when Ted pushes things too far.

Even though this film definitely has several laugh-out-loud moments, I don't think it is necessarily a comedy. The sexually explicit dialog highlights the misogyny, racism, homophobia, and anti-semitism that is pervasive in 30 something white liberals of our day & age.

This a thought-provoking while not provocative film. The director treads the fine line between voyeurism & cinéma vérité very skillfully as he cuts away from certain characters at just the right moments, leaving us to wonder what happens while we aren't watching. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a film that doesn't give easy answers. (Sammi Kat)

Yeah, I actually got sad when I saw they'll be continuing the second part after a lengthy period of time. I am not a fan of being made to wait for the end of a story! laugh I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but I'm glad to hear from someone more devoted than me that it's a great film.
