A federal grand jury is set to indict two-time presidential candidate John Edwards, the National Enquirer reported Wednesday.

Edwards, who admitted in February to fathering a child with former campaign videographer Rielle Hunter, has been under investigation by the feds for possible improper use of campaign funds.

The Enquirer, which first reported Edwards' extramarital affair in 2007, sources an unidentified "insider," who claims an indictment is imminent.

I wouldn't call the Enquirer gospel, but it does seem like it's gonna happen. This pisses me off because I liked the guy, but what he did was cold.

The seriousness with which many may or may not take their personal relationships usually has LITTLE to do with the seriousness with which they take their livelihood. Great husbands can make piss poor parents. Piss poor husbands can make great parents, why wouldnt they also be able to make great ceos or politicians? Because one doesnt have the values to keep their business in their pants doesnt mean they dont have the intelligence and business values to keep their business afloat or their country.

Each relationship is different.

When it comes to how people make their livelihood(unless its as pastor or some occupation which is actually ABOUT teaching morals)...Whats relevant is not what relationships people have in their private lives but how well they are doing their job. Plain and simple.

If it is proven Edwards MISUSED his position, that is relevant to his job, and he should face the consequences(imho).

I don't condone what Craig did at all. What Edwards did is by far worse. His wife doesn't have long to live and everyone around her should be providing her joy, insteas this asswad is providing her pain and embarassment so she can suffer for the minal months of her life.

Your source also has reported on various 'alien' pregnancies by famous celebrities but hasn't come to pass yet...it is also the same source that says Elvis is alive....I rest my case.

So, you don't know the story of former Speaker of the House/Fox Commentator/2008 Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's first divorce? Seems he informed her he was seeking a divorce while she was in the hospital for uterine cancer, forcing her to haggle over terms of said divorce while _in the hospital_.

What about the other Republican 2008 hopefuls? Take John McCain, who 'agressively courted' his new wife while married to the woman who raised his kids while he was being held prisoner in N. Viet Nam. He eventually married her and used her money to get started in politics.

How about Rudi Giuliani? Informed his _second_ wife he was divorcing her via a news conference after he openly marched with his mistress in the New York's St. Patrick's Day parade.

I guess it wouldn't be sporting to mention Mark Sanford yet again, but there ya go, Republicans-- the Infidelity Hunting Dog hunts and trees your politicians, too.

And with about the same regularity, much to your chagrin.

I'm sure not going to shed a tear for John Edwards. I thought he was a phony from the start and it's beyond the pale to ask someone you call your best friend to take the heat for your cheating. And it's REALLY over the top to try to get them to claim paternity for the love child that resulted.

Were any of the above mentioned campaigning for President at the time? Did any of the above mentioned use campaign contributions to pay off said mistresses? Did any of the above mentioned have their aide lie and say that he was really the one having the affair and that the child was really his? All the while still taking campaign contributions, still getting in front of audiences and pretending that he wasn't the slick assed ambulance chaser, but someone who really felt all those peoples pain..

Yet one "D-BAG" Democrat is supposed to offset the GOP's sordid history? How about the Dippic/Rove and Jeff Gannon thing? Gannon, a gay male prostitute visted the WH 200 times in one year...uh...where was the outrage about that?

The GOP represent the worst of the worst in this country...calling out Edwards when the GOP are comprised of racists and blatant hypocrites...

Oh yeah...the Dippic was also reportedly having an affair with Condi Rice.

I couldn't care any less what ultimately happens to John Edwards. I'm just pointing out the GOP hypocrisy.

Such as this on the part of Newt Gingrich, when he ran for a seat in Congress in 1978. Even back then he was running on the 'Family Values' platform. His motto for that campaign was "Let our family represent your family." At least that was what he was 'Edwardsing' the crowds with, when, behind the scenes, he was having an affair with a woman by the name of Anne Manning. He was still married to Jackie Battley. Manning later told Vanity Fair's Gail Sheehy, "We had oral sex. He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say, 'I never slept with her.'"

Holy Shades of Familiar Sounds, Batman!

I fail to see how the Patron Saints of The Family Values Party can be left off the hook because they come to Jesus whenever they're running for Pres.

But, if you insist on a GOP politician with presidential aspirations that was having an affair and trying to use payoffs to keep it quiet, do some Google work on John Ensign. He was having an affair with the wife of one of his top aides. We learned later on that he gave his mistress two pay raises in the nine months the affair was going on, and the National Republican Senate Committee, which Ensign chaired, " "made twice-monthly payments, generally $500 apiece to Brandon Hampton," his mistress's son.

Seems like something there should be illegal, but as far as I've checked, Ensign has yet to be brought up on charges.

You were saying....

Before I respond(which you don't even deserve) I reccommend you talk to your doctor about a couple of medications, one being lithium and the other haldol. I think they would really help you.....

LOLOLOLOL...here's just ONE year...you don't want to compare who are the most hypocritcal...this has been argued before and it's actually 10 to 1 in favor of the "morals" party...

YOU'RE FUNNY!

2007

"Robert "Bob" Allen, Florida state Rep. arrested in the afternoon at a Veteran's Memorial Park for solicitation of prostitution from an undercover male officer inside a restroom. According to the papers, Bob "offer[ed] to perform oral sex for $20". Bob later claimed that his offer had something to do with his being afraid of black people.[24]

John David Roy Atchison, Republican prosecutor, was arrested for soliciting sex from a 5-year old girl, then killed himself three weeks later. At the time of his arrest, Atchison was an "assistant U.S. attorney" appointed by President Bush's attorney general.[25]

E. Ozwald Balfour, chairman of the Utah Republican Black Assembly and elected to the Republican State Central Committee in 2007, even though he was awaiting trial on four felony counts of forcible sex abuse dating back to his arrest in February, 2005.[26]

John Bryan, Republican city councilman, killed himself after police began investigating allegations that he had molested three girls, including two of his adopted daughters, ages 12 and 15.[27]

Larry Craig, Republican Senator for Idaho, was arrested on July 11, 2007, by plainclothes police officer investigating complaints of lewd behavior in a Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport airport men's room. On August 8 in Hennepin County Municipal Court in Bloomington, Minnesota, Craig entered a guilty plea and paid a $500 fine.[28]. On September 1st, Craig subsequently announced his retirement from the Senate[29]. Five days later, Craig changed his mind, renounced his retirement and began a battle to have his guilty plea overturned.[30] Craig supported the Federal Marriage Amendment, which barred extension of rights to same-sex couples; he voted for cloture on the amendment in both 2004 and 2006, and was a cosponsor in 2008. However, in late 2006 he appeared to endorse the right of individual states to create same-sex civil unions, but said he would vote "yes" on an Idaho constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages when pressured to clarify his position by the anti-gay rights advocacy group Families for a Better Idaho. Craig voted against cloture in 2002, which would have extended the federal definition of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation.[31]

John R. Curtin, Monroe County state Republican committeeman, was convicted of molesting an underage teenage boy and sentenced to serve six to 18 months in prison.[32]

Richard Curtis, Washington State Rep., resigned from the House after reports of his sexual encounter with a male escort became public.[33] Curtis has an anti-gay rights voting record. He voted against domestic partnerships for gays and opposed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation.[34]

Donald Fleischman, Brown County, WI, Republican Party Chairman, resigned his post after he was charged with two counts of child enticement, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and a single charge of exposing himself to a child.[35]

Larry Dale Floyd, Republican Constable in Denton County, Texas Precinct Two. Arrested for allegedly crossing state lines to have sex with an 8-year old child and was charged with 7 related offenses. Age 62 at time of arrest.[36]

Ted Klaudt, former South Dakota State Rep., found guilty of four counts of second-degree rape of two teenage foster daughters.[37][38]

Ronald C. Kline, Republican Judge in Orange County, CA, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on his home computer after six years of legal wrangling. In 2002, charged with child molestation and under house arrest on federal charges of possessing child pornography, political analysts still gave him a 50-50 chance of winning the March 5 primary for the Orange County Superior Court seat. He lost the election to a write-in candidate.

Joseph M. McDade, 75, was issued a summons on a charge of exposure of sexual organs, a misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. The longtime Pennsylvania Republican congressman who served for 36 years in the House and now works for a Washington lobbying firm, has been accused of exposing his private parts to two women at a beach resort on Sanibel Island. [39]

Patrick Lee McGuire, former former Flagler County Commissioner, surrendered to police after allegedly molesting girls between the ages of 8 and 13.[40]

Jon Matthews, Republican talk show host in Houston, was indicted for indecency with a child, including exposing his genitals to a girl under the age of 17.[41]

Joseph Monteleone Jr., Elyria city councilman, was found guilty of fondling underage girls and asking them to have sex with him.[42]

Glenn Murphy Jr., chairman of the Clark County Republican Party and president of the Young Republican National Federation, resigned both posts, after the Clark County Sheriff’s Department began investigating Murphy for alleged criminal deviate conduct. A 22-year-old man claimed that Murphy performed an unwanted sex act on him while the man slept in a relative’s Jeffersonville home. During the investigation, a similar accusation from 1998 came to light.[43]

Armando Tebano, Schenectady County Republican Chairman, pleaded guilty to fondling a 14-year-old girl.[44]

David Vitter, junior Senator from Louisiana, became one of the few high-profile politicians to be implicated as a client of "D.C. Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey.[45]"

I overlooked the irony in that post.

I do not have HC insurance...so if the RW nutbaggery want me to be "sane" then they'll have to pass HC reform first.

Here's 2006 - did yall know that Ted Haggard spoke weekly with the Dippic...I guess that's why he's honored on this list.

2006
Steve Aiken, campaign manager for a Republican candidate for Congress in Arizona, former Quakertown, PA, police officer and self-proclaimed reverend, was convicted of having sex with two underage girls.[46]

Louis Beres, chairman of the Christian Coalition of Oregon. 3 of his family members accuse him of molesting them when they were pre-teens. In August 06, Beres confessed.[47]

Howard L. Brooks, Republican legislative aide and adviser to a California assemblyman, was charged with molesting a 12-year old boy and possession of child pornography. [48]

Randall Casseday, Washington Times newspaper executive, pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a 13-year old girl on the internet.[49]

Larry Corrigan, Republican operative and Director of Operations and Budget at King County Prosecutor's Office, OR, was arrested for soliciting sex from 13-year old girls.[50]

Carey Lee Cramer Political consultant and anti-Kerry ad producer, tried for molesting two young girls, one of whom lived with him, and was 8 yrs old; the other starred in an anti-Kerry commercial. Diary [51]

Mark Foley, Republican Representative, Florida Sixteenth Congressional District. Resigned after trying to solicit sex from male congressional pages via an instant messenger program. The conversations included his asking a sixteen-year-old "stud" whether his penis was erect and requesting that he take out and measure his penis. The cover-up involved Republican House Majority Leader John Boehner, Ohio Eighth Congressional District and Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Illinois Fourteenth District.

Look at this letter Foley once sent to Jeb Bush...how two faced.

http://dkosopedia.com/wiki/Mark_Foley/20030618

Jim Gibbons, then US Rep. and Republican candidate for governor, was accused by a Las Vegas casino cocktail waitress of grabbing her, shoving her against a wall and threatening her after she rebuffed his advances.[53][54] Since elected Governor, Gibbons is under investigation by the FBI on corruption charges and is embroiled in what looks set to become a very messy divorce.[55]

Ted Haggard, was fired as pastor of the New Life Church and resigned from his position as president of the National Association of Evangelicals in November 2006 after a former male prostitute alleged they had a cash-for-sex relationship. The man also said he saw Haggard use methamphetamine. Haggard confessed to undisclosed “sexual immorality” and said he bought meth but didn’t use it.[56] After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive counseling, overseen by four ministers. In Feb 2007, one of those ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual." As of early 2009, Haggard continues to receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues”. [57]

Here's a great video of Haggard saying that evangelicals have the best and most often sex...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOpMsuz_uK4

Don Haidl, Assistant Sheriff of Orange Country, in violation of California's rape shield law, led a smear campaign against the child his son poisoned and then violently gang-raped on videotape, adding up to 24 felony counts. He said that his son "acted accordingly" because the child was a "slut".[58][59]

Jeffrey Ray Nielsen, Christian conservative activist and lawyer with close ties to Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and Scott Baugh, head of the Orange County Republican Party, was arrested for having sex with a 14-year old boy.[60]

Jeffrey Patti, local Republican Committee chairman from Sparta, NJ, was arrested for distributing what experts call "some of the most offensive material in the child pornography world" - a video clip of a 5-year-old girl being raped.[61]

Brent Schepp, Republican County Board Candidate was charged with molesting a 14-year old girl and killed himself three days later."

As to your 'facts' on Newt Gingrich, when someone is still married to someone else and has consents for another person perform oral sex upon them, that IS adultery.

2006

Look at this letter Foley once sent to Jeb Bush...how two faced.

I am not going to go back and forth with you, I am tired of making you look bad frankly.

I will however address one issue and prove how little you know or how little you look into what your posting.

I have known Governor Gibbons for years, in fact that blond you see in the picture with me is his wife. I have worked on campaigns for Jim and I have associated with him, outside of office. Jim is not only one of the nicest guys you will ever meet he is also a war hero.

What you failed to mention on the cocktail waitress is that NO charges were founded. It was looked at by several law enforcement officials in different branches of law enforcement on BOTH sides of of the political aisle.

It was also learned that the supposed victim was a paid staff member of the candidate running against him, coincidence right? Wrong. That is why no charges have stuck against him, but you would know that if you used sources other then Move on or Dailykos.
