While people argue about who should win Dancing With the Stars or only see the world as they choose this article should wake them up. The writer captures what I've felt all along, that most Americans could care less about the realities of war and how we got there...they're too busy amusing themselves to death I suppose.

March 01, 2010 "Salon" -- Feb. 25, 2010 -- I want you to look very closely at this picture and try and keep it in your minds eye.

This was a perfectly healthy twenty two-year-old young man who in the service of his country got half of his head blown off. I think that’s important, I think that’s newsworthy.

Let me tell you how newsworthy I think it is. I think that it’s more important than chocolate cake recipes and far more important than comic book reviews. It is more important than who fell and whose swell at the winter Olympic games.

It is far more important than any self-serving load of crap banged out by Pseudo doctor Amy. It is more important than American Idol or Lost or any other mindless goat droppings the public chooses to chew on. This is some American mother’s son, her little boy, he may be gay or straight or transgender but his life is ****ed forever.

How did this come to happen to this poor mother’s son? It came to happen because the people in the media who are supposed to foster a public debate on such public issues as war instead used their franchise to promote articles about chocolate cake and comic book reviews. They see their free press as free to choose not to look when bad thinks happen. They feel no need to explain to his parents or to anyone that the war that blew off half of this poor boys head was based on out and out lies.

It was a war perpetrated by people who hoped to gain from it be it in oil or pipelines or service contracts and like the media they don’t care that this mother’s son is mangled and mutilated. Do you care? I’ve been married twice for a combined twenty-five years and in that time I doubt my wives ever baked a chocolate cake. I don’t read comic books or watch goat crap TV but you see I’ve got a son about this boy’s age. My heart aches and my mind fills with rage because the people that have the power and authority to show this picture would rather talk about American Idol and from where I sit that makes them an accomplice to a war crime.

Because not content to ignore the current victims they support more crimes and call for more wars. Several years ago in Iraq parents waited for their children at a bus stop. An errant coalition missile struck the bus stop and blew the elementary school age children to pieces. Needless to say this wasn’t widely reported but the parents in a frenzy began fighting over the body parts of their children. Little arms and legs, little headless torsos identifiable only by the shirt or dress they were wearing. Imagine the horror, imagine the type of people who could do such a thing. How do they live with themselves? How do they sleep at night?

They do it by watching Lost and American Idol and by eating chocolate cake. They read comic books and watch sports. It makes life easy because the media will not intrude on their fantasy world but instead will promote the fantasy. Oh, but who won the gold metal in curling and who was eliminated on American Idol."

First that photo is so poorly photo shopped it is laughable.And in black and white???War Photo journalist stopped shooting in black and white about 20 years ago.Second I have never seen or heard of anyone getting half of his head and brain blown off and still somehow functioning.I'm sure if that was the case it would make newspapers and tv stations around the world.

You really think you give the slightest bit of honor and respect to the Military,soldiers,or their families by telling them that "their poor little son" died in vain for a lie?Why don't you try saying that to them sometime to the family members and see if it doesn't get your eyeballs gouged out of your head.You don't know what you are talking about because you have never served in the Military.People join the military in a War because they know that there are some things worth dying for.They know this World is messed up by violent people who are only interested in killing innocent people.They know by killing these people they can bring peace.

There is no draft!Everyone who joins does so by free will and knows he or she will be going to a War zone.Even if you are totally brain dead and have never seen a TV you still have to put your initials on around 90 paragraphs that both you and your recruiter reads together that describes War,Death,loss of limbs,reserve time Etc.There is no surprises.You know what you are going in for and you know you may die.I am surprised you anti war nutjobs are not protesting the Police and Fireman all over America.Don't you know that they also sign up by choice and don't you know that many of them die every year due to violence from other people.It doesn't seem right that you would protest the military and not the Police since the Police are dying also.


So yes I am one of those people who sit around and watch tv with out worrying about a mushroom cloud exploding out my window.I know that there is still men and woman who are so brave and love the American people so much they will risk death and destruction to keep us safe.I do not and will never dishonor those dead or crippled soldiers by saying they died in vain for a lie and feel sorry for them.I will salute them and say "Thank you for your service to our country.We are forever grateful".To those who have died.You have my highest respect.

Don't dishonor our military by falling for this phony leftist crap.When you see them smile and shake their hand.Make them feel good about being home.It's a terrible thing to lose a limb in battle.It's a worse thing to come home to some idiot who tells you that you didn't know what you were doing,fought in something you didn't believe in,and was too stupid to get a real job.


One more thing...When are you going to have the guts to post civilians lost by bombings by terrorist which happen every day and sometimes several times a day?

Back during Vet Nam lot of people played a game it was called “Lets Help Kill Solders in the Jungle”. Now they re playing a game called “Lets Help Kill Solders in the Desert“. That young man would have probably not been wounded if American citizens hadn’t been encouraging the enemy to keep on killing.

I do feel for the family pictured(mother and son). I dont feel it would be any more beneficial to show such images around the clock than it is to avoid them around the clock. Humans need balance, it shouldnt be some unrealistic fairy tale but it need not be all doom and gloom either. I want to know about the things people are going through in the world, the bad AND the good things, so I dont feel guilty watching someone talk about cake or the olympics. There is a place in our lives for many, many , things.

I sometimes wonder why you never served in the military Thomas? How can anyone support a war based on BS. It has bankrupted our country it is the biggest disaster since Vietnam. It has made me ashamed to call myself an american. It shames the men who are in uniform. I pitty them. The military in reality is a last choice for many young people. No employment oppertunities no chance at higher education so they join for a paycheck. There is nothing noble in this war, just a huge waste of lives, theirs and ours.

Did you know BUSH and his wife had an ill child who died and they didnt attend her funeral?
