The way I see it - the guy had to get permission to bring his child there, right? As heard on the audio, the pilots didn't seem to have an issue at all. Some seemed amused by it. The kid did not mess up anything and was not there alone. No harm done.

yes....thank God

amazing at the amount of ppl that think this is no big deal
I have to agree. I don't want a kid guiding in MY flight. Don't care who was supervising or whatever. That was TOTALLY irresponsible.

Was he good at it? I mean, it is pretty difficult directing flights, and there are a lot of flights...figure if he was decent, offer him a job.smokin

i brought my daughter to work one day
just in an office
figured she could color and play on the carpet next to me
i turn my head to do my work and next thing i know there is juice everywhere
i'm sure the father couldn't watch his kid every second he was there

fire the controllers.

terrible judgement, as no distraction or extra factors should be necessary for them to deal with in the event of an air catastrophe, which can come out of nowere.

the kids were on there during peak volume hours, also, and with the large number of international pilots for whom english is not their first language.

gotta stop lowering the standards and increasing the permissiveness sometime......

The pilots who chuckled at receiving directions and instructions from a child are just as guilty (and stupid) as the 'parent' who thought 'Bring Your Kid To Work' meant it was okay for the cute li'l thing to actually DO what 'Daddy' does ... Sorry, but ALL of those in the chain of events that led to this kid having a live microphone in his hand communicating with actual moving traffic on active flight lines need to be fired. Immediately. There is NO excuse for the idiocy demonstrated in this case. There are LIVES at stake. Whether people want to acknowledge it or not, all it takes is ONE mistake to kill people quickly. If that had happened, would your 'acceptance' of 'Daddy's action be as tolerant as it is now? I think not ... and what if one of YOUR loved ones had been a victim of 'Daddy's cute little tyke's action? Getting too close now ... ? Good.

Fire these people now. There are lives at stake in this profession. We don't need to learn the hard way that this was a ridiculous act that can have no 'slack' cut just because 'nothing happened THIS time'. Just because 'What IF' didn't happen THIS time is NO reason to continue policies that can allow it to happen again.

Yes, it was cute, there is a take your child to work day, but this is a major safety factor.............pilots are being directed and depend on someone being there if there should be some type of emergency.....seconds matter in cases like that......
