A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

I got the chills. Had flashbacks to my boy Parker. I feel like crying. Gonna go sit outside at his grave and tell him I miss him............

the reason i said go to be with your dogs, is that it is very scary for them, and they know what is happening believe it or not.

i have witnessed 2 deaths now. i appreciate life and the dogs i have.flowerforyou

There is nothing like the love from and animal be it a dog, cat ect they love ya unconditional. I miss the dogs that I have had in the past. The ones I have had in the last 14 years have their own grave site in my back yard with tombstones as well.

The dog I have now makes me smile every day...........bigsmile

Gawd. I just took a long look at my Black Lab with tears in my eyes.

It's funny. He was brought into my home by my last ex. I wasn't really looking for a dog, but she insisted on getting him.

Then, she left and wanted me to potty train him and then take him to her.

I was fine with that. I trained him, then tried to take him to her.

I took her daughter to get ice cream, and the ex told me that as soon as I pulled out of the driveway, he started going nuts. Whining, crying, pacing....until I came back. She decided that he was my dog.

So I brought him back home with me.

Now...I can't imagine what I would do without him. He has saved me quite a few times from the crushing loneliness that sometimes happens. He's made me laugh with some of the goofy stuff he does and comforted me when I wasn't feeling well.

He is, without a doubt, my best friend.

I was cooking hamburgers tonight, and it got real smokey for some reason. My poor cat freaked out, he ran to my moms room and meowed to wake her up, then he ran to my room and started meowing on my bed. I had to pet him and let him know everything was OK. He calmed down and started purring once I started to pet him and talk to him. I felt bad that he had got so scared, but I was glad that I was able to calm him quickly. He stayed with me in my room until the smoke cleared, now he's fast asleep in the middle of my bed.

I'm sure going to miss this cat. We've been through alot together. We have a special bond. He follows me like my shadow, and will miss me if I'm away for too long. He is as loyal as any dog, and as playful as a kitten still. I have to admit, I love the furry little thing.

Sounds like my Lab but Ihave to say I have the added bonus that he tottally rejects the X if we happen to be together for some requisite family gathering .He ignores her commands and will not leave my side for anything .I think he knows!

Anyone here have a chronic "chewer" where everything you own is a chew toy, and the dog would rather chew on those than his/her own chew toys?

This may help:

My dog, "Charlie" chews everything, shoes, combs, usb flash drives, even plastic bowls, pillows, planters, you name it.

we have a saying in Texas

"you have to shoot your own dog"

it's not something you can give to someone else to do and if you do then you're not worthy of respect

through my life i have had alot of dogs, and everyone i loved very much, but everyone that has passed away have lived longer than 15 years, my dog Zues, had lived for 20 years. But i think the reason he lived to long is cause we used to have a orange tree, and everyday he would go to the orange tree, take one and eat the entire thing,i remember the time when he was just to old to lift himself up to get one.He really wanted that orangelaugh so i picked one for him and he just looked at me like he was saying thank you, then walked away.

chewing.....anxiety of sorts....missing u when u r gone.
kong toy about $10 at Petsmart. Fill with peanut butter. Keeps them busy 4 hour or so. Be gone no more than 4 hours. Kennel or crate them. Give more exercise. Dogs r travelers. Need a walk besides running around back yard.flowerforyou
