Funny how every other democratic country had 3-4-5 parties competing for majority and presidency, only US is stuck in a left-right, blue-red paradigm.

And then most respond "I voted for the lesser evil".

How about voting for not a "lesser evil" but refuse to vote if only evils are presented?

For me, both democrats and republicans blew it, I'm voting for whatever newest 3rd or 4th party emerges , if nothing emerges, I am not voting.

Red pill or blue pill..how about not taking either of them. indifferent

BRAVO!!!

More people in this country need to think like that.

The " lesser of two evils " voting has put this country in a very bad way.

But, as usual, during the next Presidential election, the mass media will tell us all how to vote, and who to vote for.

And the sheeple will just follow blindly along.

It's actually worse now, ever since the Supreme court allowed to have businesses run uncontrolled and unlimited campaign funds for their favorite candidate.

these days (it seems) it's like voting for the snake with the least venom. The problem is that you don't know the level of venom until after you are bitten

The problem is not the two party system, but rather the voters. We go to the polls and instead of firing the worthless mother ****ers we elected the last go round, we reward them by re-electing them. Voters in this country are stupid and the over educated politicos know this.

Only partially agree on this although I wouldn't mind if they would actually make some sort of a test you must pass before voting. Like a questionnaire that you must pass, so you actually know about who you are voting for. If you fail it, you can't vote.

I still wouldnt have voted McCain. I am not unhappy with OBama at all for having been in one year and had what he had to work with. I didnt feel McCain represented things that were important to me and I was terrified at the SLIGHTEST chance someone like PALIN might step in for him. I usually decide my choice during the elections, and I just agreed more with OBamas answers and solutions than I did McCain.

So when, exactly, is it going to be that people stop making up excuses ( BLAME BUSH!!! ) for his lack of progress??

How much further into the toilet does the country have to go before he actually becomes accountable??

2 years?? 3 years?? His entire presidency???

What the hell...let's just keep blaming Bush for the next 3 years. It's worked pretty well so far, right?

Maybe the same time somone can come up with a number of how many years it should take to fix things that took four to eight to ten years to get so screwed up. I have no doubt the President will make and is making progress, whether it is BIG enough or FAST enough in our generation of immediate gratification has yet to be seen.

Yes, excellent idea. Another thing, why have parties? Just vote. On people, and the people given more issue to vote on. But, am cynical. I think they're all fixed anyway, and have been for a long time. Especially now with computers, who runs them? People. Don't trust private agendas and don't trust the govt. I really know we are being had, and taking a very long ride to nowhere unless something is done.

I see.

So, because no one can come up with an arbitrary number, he's going to just get a pass for everything.

Great idea.

no, but he will not get blamed for what was in effect before he came in,,,,if he gets us in another unnecessary war, or drives up the deficit well beyond estimates, or education and healthcare and technology decline, or we head into another near depression, by the end of his term, than he will answer to that.

Ya know....as nice as that sounds....I kinda doubt it'll happen.

What if he doesn't come up with something that pulls us out of this recession?? Adding taxes isn't going to add jobs no matter how much they would like it to be so.

Chances are, they'll still be blaming Republicans and George Bush for the lack of progress.

I guess it depends upon perception.

I was glad he contributed to keep us out of DEPRESSION, personally. If others held to the standard that we also have to be out of RECESSION during his term, I am sure they will fault him when or if that doesnt happen.

Preparing to give him a pass on that already I see.

" So what if there are no more jobs and taxes are higher. At least we aren't in a depression. "

How much ya wanna bet that, if he doesn't get re elected, the next Republican President won't be allowed to have the apologists make excuses like that?

As I said before, it is not an excuse for me it is an assessment of what I expected vs what I get. I only expected to not go into depression, I wasnt expecting to be out of recession so I will not be terribly disappointed if we arent. Its kind of like being glad i was able to keep my house from going into foreclosure, even if I am still struggling with debt to maintain it. At least I have a home to worry about. At least we have an economy to work with, whether it fully recovers in four years or not.

ON the issue of recession (which I was confusing with a FULL economic recovery) I found this definition

A recession is when GDP growth slows, businesses stop expanding, employment falls, unemployment rises, and housing prices decline. Using that definition, many experts say the U.S. entered the current recession in 2007

I concede that if ALL these things ,when compared to the begining of OBamas term, have happened at the end of his four years, it will fall upon the shoulders of the current government and administration.
