I actually envy you and thinks that's awesome. I'm kind of useless with anything but driving a car and putting gas in it. I can change a tire though. Good luck to you in your chosen profession.

Many yrs ago when I was 11 I could put an engine together by myself. My dad raced and I was always in the garage so they would just put me to work cleaning parts and thats how I learned...

As long as it doesn't require my car being on the rack I'm game.
Wont fool with the oil change though, just easier to let the shop do it to dispose of the oil properly. I'll take an auto shop over a mall any day. |

It's almost impossible to find a woman into cars around here, happy to hear you like that sort of thing.

I've tried, I'm not very good with tools..

I just lack the interest. But, I'm glad my girl's father is going to teach them basic car maintenance.

I'd rather let her do it than me have to do it myself.

Hell no! It's not just a mans job...I like to get my hands dirty too you know... Just as long as you clean the grease and grime from out of your fingernails, afterwards. That's gross. |

Absolutely not. Even sexy.
Of the 200 plus car shops that I call on there are only 2 women that are mechanics. They are good at what they do. |

If it isn't a problem to you, why the hell does it matter what someone else thinks?

Nothing I like better than a woman covered in engine oil.

I think it's awesome that a woman has an interest in working on autos. I had a [woman] friend who used to work in the pits (drag racing). Which reminds me, Ashley Force is at the top of my "women in racing" list :) I watched (and photographed) her race and beat her Dad here at Houston Raceway Park (her Dad, John, is one of the winningest drag racers of all time). Follow your dream ... many don't ! |

Hell no! It's not just a mans job...I like to get my hands dirty too you know... It's not a problem at all. I can remmber my mom getting her hands dirty, working on her cars with my uncles. I don't see anything wrong with a female doing a "mans job". If you enjoy doing it, go for it! If you want, you can come over here and fix my car as well. I'm getting a funny noise in the engine (actually it just sounds like $*!+), and my back seat needs some fixin', I had to break the latch because my doors froze. Besides, sometimes things just need "a womans touch" to be fixed properly. |

Fine with it, absolutely fine, however, trim those finger nails back, long nails are useless when torqueing wrenches and getting into tight spaces. And cut the hair back above the shoulders or even above the neckline if that's possible. No need for long hair which will get in the way, and get matted, damaged, and greasy either. Otherwise, by all means be a female grease monkey.
