I see "I love taking long walks on the beach" in Arizona. Geez there are no beachs here. grumble grumble

A thought just accrued to me as I read your post...

If the earthquakes keeps up...you just may end up with some "beach front" property there in Arizona!

Just think of what that would do for property value!

Just kidding with ya!

LOL people are always talking about that, and the song.

I guess it's an age thing on my end, but a song?

I might know what song your talking about...but (see, I can blame it on age) it slips my memory!

George Strait "Ocean Front Property" I do not know the year, it is on the radio alot.

Oh yea...now I remember...that is a pretty good song.

Now that you mentioned it, I can hear it in my head!

That's another sign of age...trying to keep the music and ringing separate! laugh

I have a collection of over 23,000+ plus music files on the puter...all types of music...you'd think I would have remembered that song.

I can imagine it would be! Reckon, the officials would ever make it a state song?

We have the song, "Sweet Home Alabama"!

Yep...down around Mobile..., and the gulf coast as well.

I spent some time out in Colorado, Springs (about 3 years), but it's hard for me to wrap my head around your state, with what I picture a lot of desert land.

There is so much green here in AL...guess it just depends on what your used to being around.

Normally I avoid all dating sites...but the person who created this one has been one of my favourite web designers for a while now. I think he is the only designer who ever made a Web 2.0 site that was not only NOT ugly, but really DOES look fabulous. All his sites do.

I also appreciated that this is free. That the "premium" or "pro" or whatever version isn't something you need to subscribe to or the site totally becomes worthless. I put profiles up 3 years ago on about 3 other sites and all of them were that way. Wastes of time suck. But this is cool.

Please excuse me, for a moment, though, I have a rant that needs screeding...drool

Why is it that everyone seems to always put exactly the same things on their profiles? For one thing why are people's lists of interests always padded with lots and lots of outdoorsish stuff...always there's this over-representation of sports and exercise activities. I thought at first maybe it was because the user had a mindset of suggesting activities that could be done on a date, but somehow, I think perhaps it's more immediate a reason that the user wants to slip a bit of a hint of "see...I'm less likely to be flabby, I'm into exercise!" But that's not all.

What in the Sam Hill is it with the "walks on the beach" thing? Attention: The Clue Train is now boarding...Get your ticket ready please...

Let's quit it with putting "I like taking long walks on the beach" on your profiles. It's just a stupid attempt to look romantic. It doesn't. All it tells me that you couldn't be bothered to take five minutes to think of something you actually do regularly and are known to enjoy...rather than cribbing from that annoying "Pina Colada" song. It says nothing...you might as well put "I like breathing and drinking water" on there. Who doesn't like to take walks on the beach? Assume that this is a "given" and move on...

If I see that again, I am going to scream so loud it causes all the letters in the font it uses to explode, de-kern themselves and turn to a cloud of little pixels.

Actually, I won't do that. But come on people can't we stop copying other people's copies of someone else's personality profiles?

///end rant///

Yes I have been on the coast in Alabama on the way to Florida. Southern AZ is desert but in Northern AZ you will see the green and its COLD in the winter too. I live in the southern part and I love the desert but would love some beach front property in California shades smile2

Well it seems since your into the profile thing and what others write on them this thread should would keep your occupied for a bit it is one that Lex keeps updated it is surely one that will make you think twice what to not write on one.

http://mingle2.com/topic/show/233338

But then it always amazes me why others bring so much attention to what others put on their profiles. To me if it it that bad I just shake my head and move on.slaphead

Many times when others write a profile it is for the first time and they have no idea what to write. Nor have any clue so they just write a few things such as walks on the beach. Now I assure this does not work very well if you don't live near any beaches and have not seen the beach in the last 10 years.

My self I live in Texas hummmm only so called beach is that bit of sand out at the lake they have designated within the family areas that if your lucky it maybe a couple of blocks long. And needless to say not much to walk along.

I use to prefer horse back riding but to be honest even though I have not been around horses since I sold mine 5 years ago. I would still love to be around them again. Even if I had to learn to ride all over again I still say I like to do those things.

Sometimes what some put in their profile has to deal with the things they would love to do with another. Romance is seen many different ways even though I don't have a beach to walk on now got to admit I would love to live where I could take those walks.

In reality if one wants to put in their profile all those romantic things then hey more power to them. Candle lite dinners yeppiers I have had them and have had walks in the country instead of the beach under the moonlight as well. Not a thing wrong with any of that stuff. Heck have had the big bubble baths for 2 with candles drinks and all including the massage along the way. So yeah those things do exist and many do enjoy them.bigsmile

I didn't include my hobbies on my profile for the simple reason of not wanting to be seen as a sad git, but I will list a few of them here..........
Collects toenail clippings
Likes nothing better than 'vegging' out infront of the television (for hours on end)
I have a huge collection of swimwear but cannot swim
Collects exercise equiptment but don't use any of it (Hey! it's the thought that counts)
Loves condensed milk sandwiches............ Now if that does not attract a man who likes long romantic walks on the beach then nothing will.

Many people on SITES,,fill out the part about THEM,,,in a hurry.
And MANY,,,are of simple self thoughts as to their thinking of them?
Now THEY write out what SEEMS to be them in a fast run-through of desires within them,,,,THEY,,,MOST,,,feel strange writing about them selves,,,so they hurry through it..
And THAT,,,does not read well,,,,,when others REALLY READ THEM SLOW AND TO THE POINT...
So,,,,,does...THIS help?????lol

If some reads another persons profile,,,finds some phraises nice to their selfs liking...they will,,,PASS IT ON....and so,,,you have passed on minds......

Yet I am sure they DO all like what they REPEAT others in saying...

As for ME,,,I LOVE TO RUN NAKED ON THE BEACH,,,,and swim in your clothes, as the waves let the moon keep us BOTH tide.
Nothing left to cast away, just me and you, watching the sun rise.

laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh THERE,,,,LET'S WATCH AND SEE IF THIS IS PASSED-ON,,,,,laugh laugh laugh

Agree, I think many people do not know what to write in their profiles. It is difficult to summarize all your likes, hobbies, dreams etc in a profile for the world to read.

See, I have also noticed an ABUNDANCE of minglers who love outdoorsy stuff, like sports or hiking or camping or the gym. It was a bit of a take back because I thought more people were IN DOORS type folks like me. I HATE being outdoors, especially in the heat. Give me AC anyday. I also hate sweating on purpose, I like to smell nice on purpose instead.

I had chalked it up to the possibility that I am strange or rare,,but perhaps people are making up these interest,,,,?

Whichever way, I prefer honesty, so if interests(real or fabricated) dont match up with mine, I find it best to just MOVE on. This site has hundreds of members(I think).
