Why do people disregard and actually laugh when bad things happen to those that they do not like or approve of? Stating they deserve it sometimes even???

Is it because they are unable to put themselves in that person's shoes because they do not like them?

Or is it just their ugly nature showing up?

It is sad to see people do it and you see it all over the place.

I think it deems from a little of both of those things. No matter how much I may not care for someone I would never wish bad things for them.

Myself I love to see good things happen to others.

But ya know I always wonder why at times those that have it good have to brag about it as well as if saying see what I got and your not good enough to do it or have it.

People just don't think at times noway

Don't know, don't understand that myself..

Yes, it is an ugly un-compassionate nature, eye for an eye mentality, vengeful, hateful, hurtful and baffling attitude.

On America's Funniest Home Videos it seems like some of those people really get hurt, you'd be lieing if you said you have never laughed at some of those videos, but I guess somehow that's different right? whoa

it's sad, but it also depends on the people involved. I can think of friends that (even though I hated to see them hurting) I just think..."why??? you knew better."

as sad as it may be

Sometimes the actions is because what is in our heart. Word and actions first comes with a thought and then is purpose in our heart.

I don't wish bad things on people I don't like but on the other hand if they fail at something the I gotta laugh.

If it's any consolation, I've heard peole say, (myself included) that "I wouldn't wish ...on my worst enemy" or that "no one deserves that". Thankfully, not everyone is bitter and mean toward people they don't like or get along with.

With Funniest Videos, they set themselves up for the laughter. Otherwise, they wouldn't send the video in. Besides, when you laugh at the videos, you are laughing with the individuals... Have you ever seen just how hard they are laughing at themselves when the camera pans around? Besides, some of those people are alughing the whole way to the bank, if they win the funniest.

I'd need an example of exactly what the OP is referring to.

I don't find that particular show hilarious but I do know when I see a someone doing something stupid and they break their azz from doing said stupid thing on their own free will, I will laugh. Of course, when a guy gets hit in the balls, it's also guaranteed laughs.

Also if I see a woman walking down the street in 5 inch heels and its snowing with ice on the ground., but she decided it was best in a snow storm to look cute rather than practical...and then she falls, I am the first person to burst out laughing and yeah I think she deserves it.

But don't get me wrong, if I slip and fall, I am the first person to laugh at myself. I was walking across 57th and 5th one day and I fell. My skirt went up for all the world to see. I could not stop laughing. I figure I gave the tourists a show.

I think often it's the case people are unable to put themselves in other people's positions. People tend to only think and view from their perspective. "Perception is reality"
And sometimes, not often, but sometimes it is nice to see someone 'get what they deserve'. I am a believer in Karma and you get what you put out.
But in my case it's not really a 'you get what you deserved" it's more of a 'you got what you earned' or asked for type thing.

I will be the devil's advocate here. A strangers misfortune....I rarely feel one way or another about.

However....if one of my friends do something stupid and karma smacks em upside the head....I laugh.

When someone does me wrong....(Oh, I donno.....say my helper forgetting to come to work all of last week and leaving me pulling 16 hour shifts with no breaks or time for lunch in freezing temperatures.....for 5 straight days)

I LOVED laughing my @ss off when he called monday to say his car broke down 40 miles outside of town. I laughed even harder when I told him he was fired and I had replaced him.

Does that make me petty and spiteful? .......God, I hope so!!!!!

human nature...zero sum game thinking..perception one group will survive when a dissimilar group fails..

I think considering those who send in the video apparently think its funny and are laughing at themselves, I dont feel inappropriate laughing with them.

exactly what I was gonna say. We shouldnt wish others harm or 'laugh' at them, but karma does sometimes come back on people

I cant help but feel empathy for everyone but I aknowledge the responsibility we all hold for our choices and their consequences as well.
