Any player found to have used steroids should lose any records they hold. I use to love baseball so much, but I am not a fan of steroids.

St. Louis has a part of a highway that has been named, the "Mark McGwire Highway":

Stretch of I-70 called 'Mark McGwire Highway' to keeps its name -- for now
By Ashley Yarchin

KSDK -- The year after he broke the record of hitting 70 homeruns in a season, many Missouri lawmakers felt driven to name a five-mile stretch of Interstate 70 "Mark McGwire Highway." Now many are not proud of that decision.

The highway was unveiled on September 7, 1999. The decision to name the stretch of interstate was the result of a bill that began in the State Senate and was backed by folks in the State House. On Wednesday those who were for it admit they've changed their minds while those who voted against it felt validated.

"I attempted to repeal 'Mark McGwire Highway' and rename it to 'St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Highway' and unfortunately I was unsuccessful in that effort, but I do feel redeemed at this point how Mark McGwire admit today that he did abuse steroids," said former State Rep. Wes Wagner.

"The way that Sosa and McGwire electrified the game at that time, it seemed like a no-brainer that I would sponsor that bill in the house and then subsequently, I think you had to have your head in the sand to believe Mark McGwire when he testified in front of Congress to not know he was on steroids," said now-Sen. Ryan McKenna. "At that time I thought, 'What a regret that I have that I was involved with naming a highway after this guy.'"

There is no bill yet to left Mark McGwire's name off of that stretch of I-70 but both said they would support it. Changing the name in state congress is a process that could take about three months.

I knew it, but liked him because he was an advocate for abused children and donates much of his money and time to them, yes he used steroids when he got injured, but not to cheat like bonds did....anyhow, it sends a very bad message to the kids following in their footsteps, you have to take drugs to perform on a major level...Thank God for Ken Griffrey Jr. Can you imagine how many homers he would have hit.....his 600 is far more valuable to me than bonds record.

If Jr plays into his mid 40's like many expect him to, a non steriod user may again hold the HR record

^as much as I'd love to see it, I seriously doubt it, maybe if he went back to seattle....but his hard playing has taken a toll on his body, he has maybe 2-3 years left at best.

You're assuming Griffey never used them. To say that he didn't, because he spent time on the I.R., is hardly proof.

At this point, I would not be surprised by ANY player from this era that comes out and admits, OR is forced to admit it. And that includes ANY sport, including the Olympics.

Their own denial has no meaning. EVERY player, that has been forced to admit using steroids, has denied using, in the past: A-rod, McGwire, Boone, Palmero, Clemons, etc., etc., etc.

Remember a few years ago, when they started talking about random testing, and Ivan Rodriquez came back for spring training, and had lost about 40lbs over the winter? Said he had done it with plain old diet and exercise. Laughable. The guy wasn't fat. He was just roided out.

Until the unions for ALL sports agree to random testing - REAL testing, today's "records" mean nothing, in my mind.

Funny thing is, I think Canseco is a clown, but if it weren't for him, none of this might have been really brought to light. Thanks, Jose.

this is why i think Randy johnson is the greatest pitcher ever cause he pitched in an era of cheaters

So you are just going to completely ignore that Greg Maddux ( a much BETTER pitcher because he couldn't overpower guys ) also pitched during that era??

I wish I could say that I can relate....but the Tigers have had a couple of no hitters. Jack Morris in 84 and Justin Verlander a couple of years ago.

All I can really say is....

Nyahh Nyahh....

I think the only reason that a lot of people see Johnson as " more dominant " was because he had the high 90's fastball that Maddux never had.

But, to me, Maddux was the more " dominant " pitcher because, even though he only threw in the low 90's for most of his career, he still made guys look completely silly.

I really think it would be a close vote if guys who had faced both of them were to be asked who they LEAST wanted to face.

Not trying to rub it in RKISIT(ok yes I am)
but even my Brewers have one.

MEMORIAL STADIUM, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- Juan Nieves wrote the story and Robin Yount supplied the exclamation mark to one of the more exciting games in Brewers history. Nieves became the first Brewer and the first Puerto Rican-born Major Leaguer to toss a no-hitter when he blanked the Orioles on a cold night at Memorial Stadium, a game that ended on center fielder Yount's now-legendary catch of an Eddie Murray line drive in right-center field.

Greg Maddux....almost laughable, hell did he ever throw a strike, Steve Carlton was far better and don't forget Bob Feller, Sandy Koufax, and the greatest most intimidating pitcher of all time.....Bob Gibson.

and BTW Griffey is scared to death of drugs, so I doubt your claim has any validity.

I didn't claim he took steroids, I just said that nothing would surprise me.

And someone saying he is "scared to death of drugs," carries no weight. They have all claimed not to have taken steroids.

And that, right there is exactly why there is no way for baseball to strike anyone's records from the books.

There have been a couple hundred ( or something like that ) players named for taking steroids.

BUT, the problem wasn't limited to only those players.

The problem was WIDE SPREAD throughout the sport. There is no way to know who was and who wasn't using them.

The entire record book would have to be blank for a 20-30 year period.
