Topic: Do we expect a lower standard from women?

I think we actually expect more from women. We expect them to hold down jobs, do the laundry, take care of the kids, figure out how to take care of the kids, clean the house and bring us our beers and slippers when we come home. (or something of the sort). Oh, and always look good and, of course, have sex whenever we want to. (yes, fantasizing is allowed on this forum  ).

In any case, I think we don't expect much from men. We just expect them to be the breadwinner--and that is it.

The more bread the man brings home, the better he is considered.

But, we can all change this mentality. Just stop expecting so much or so little and except each other for who we are.
(kumbaya getting louder in the background  )

(Before you jump on me for generalizing let me just say yes, I am. For the sake of discussion I'd like to talk about the two groups collectively rather than individually. I am fully aware that there are exceptions to this notion)

Do you ever notice that when you look at popular youtubers the guys are almost always funnier than the girls, and that girls generally depend on showing boobs and being beautiful for hits?

Do you ever notice that it's easier for beautiful women to be "famous for nothing" while men, even attractive men, almost always have to be skilled in some area such as acting, music, wit etc in order to earn fame?

Do you think Sarah Palin would be considered as qualified to be John McCain's running mate if she were a man?

I guess what I'm getting at is, as a society, do people expect less from women? If so, isn't this to the detriment of the female sex? Are women in the media generally stupider and less talented than the men?

Intelligent women are always a threat to some lame a** men in most situations, *note I said some* these guys go out of their way to *bounce* the competition when it is noticed that the women are better at doing the job they have both been employed to do.

i think intelligent women are always a treat regardless..great for banter together. bounce different ideas off of them and get a reasonable answer instead of "what ever you think"..i don't think they pose any threat to the male ego..but most sure look better in a nice dress and heels..bigsmile drinker
