Oh, sorry. The analaogy I was drawing that is lurkers read an article and don't comment, for whatever reason. Pervs view someone's profile yet don't send a message. The same animal is someone that is acting passive and a little shy. That's what I meant.

Why do so many people read forums, yet not respond to posts. There are tons of views on many threads, yet not so many responses. Even threads where the response is easy and doesn't take a lot of thinking. I'm sure some will say they are shy. I don't see how someone can be shy online, though. So, what's the point of being a lurker?
Lurking is a hobby to some folks.
If your well known lurking in real life is really difficult cause you get recognized allot.
I used to lurk occasionally just for fun,now it has become a passion.
I lurk as much as I can but not as much as I'd like too cause folks are getting to know me.
They say"LOOK!he's lurking over there or LOOK he's lurking under here!".
Basically Lurking is becoming a lost art.Very few people really have the skill to Lurk properly so Lurking in general is not as fun as it used to be.
I"m thinking of joining Lurkers anonymous soon cause I cant think of anything but LURKING!!!!frustrated

myself, i don't respond often because i try to stay out of the forums as a participant.

when i do respond, it's usually to tag the thread so that i can keep an eye on it.

In a chat room there are people who lurk and never say anything but a forum isn't active or live and when your looking at a thread you have no idea if there is anybody else there at the same time. Wouldn't they just be readers?

oh people just like to read people's profiles. it does not mean they r perving or lurking.
i think it is okay to know what other people r doing and saying in their lives.
ur words go in front of u, and they follow ur behind.flowerforyou

I am guilty for more than one view on many threads so you can't count them all as lurkers.

I go into threads and read and go out and then think of something I wanted to say and go back in or I will read the first post and think this is going to be a good one and repeatedly go back looking at what each person writes.

So not as many lurkers as you thought just this lurker...lol
