I , had I had any say in the matter would have preferred to raise my children back in those times..and am very grateful that my children are grown. I would not want to be raising little one's now.

Well, they dang sure aren't going to be drafted today.
Or be left to suffer through a recession on their own.

"American Kids are spoiled rotten today and have been for a couple decades now!"

That was your comment...there were days when I was lucky to have food on the table for my children..pretty big generalization they are are spoiled.

If you are asking permission to make an assumption, and are giving me a choice..then no, I don't want to hear your assumptions about my life.

"American Kids," would be a pretty broad generalization. Don't ya think?
If that doesn't include your adults, I'd say your over reacting.
Judging by your over-reaction, I could probably make a few assumptions.
However, you obviously just want to argue, and I won't bite

It is a sweeping generalization about kids these days...as a mother of 3 sons, none who are fat, diabetic, rude or spoiled..I'm sick of the constant comments about..
"kids these days".
Maybe some are like that..stick to those you know instead of including an entire generation.

I am the one who leaves threads rather than argue with you..remember?
I don't argue. I won't sit back either while you include my children in your generalizations..
worry about your own children, as I have mentioned to you before.
You have already made your assumptions about me, long ago in other threads..

Yep.

" The Government is good. The Government will take care of me. The Government is good. The Government will take care of me. "

Just repeat this mantra until you are 100 percent convinced that it's true.

In the words of the immortal Bill Hicks...

" Go back to sleep America. Your government has everything under control. "

Those less willing to admit the truth are most likely in denial and still continuing to make the same mistakes again and again!

LOL
Mind you I said those! (general statement)

Ya know guy.
I remember during the 80s that if a single parent wanted more help from the gov they would just have another kid.

At least now, in my state, there is a limit on the number of kids and the time the Gov will pay!

So what, Fanta??

Funny thing is, those people would not have been given that ability in the first place had it not been for Liberal hand out programs.

A big part of the reason for the current mess we are in is Liberal policies that forced the banks to make loans to people who didn't have the ability to pay them.

I'm not saying the banks were right in how they did things. But they were forced to make high risk loans. Now, everyone is blaming the banks, and ONLY the banks, for the current crisis.

Am I the ONLY one who sees how absurd that is??

I don't know who started the social service program guy.
I'm not against it either.
Just the abuse.
The system is good in ideology and humanity, it just needed some refinements.

I am not against the programs either.

However, I do believe there needs to be more of a focus on getting people AWAY from the programs.

It isn't a case of the programs having " needed " refinements.

The system is completely fouled up. It NEEDS refinements.

But guess what.

None of those refinements are possible because the Libs are so far to the left < at least the ones in power are > that they would shoot down ANY attempt to make the system work better and more efficiently.

Like here,
I think the limit is now 2 kids for two or three years.
But, they also determined that it was cheaper to offer school and training to single parents so that they could become independent of the welfare need.

It's voluntary with incentive.
If they don't take the state up on the opportunity of school they will find themselves without.

After having whole populations living in public housing and tax-payers feeding them and their children for 18 yrs, or more because the cycle was never broken, they deemed it was cheaper to pay to train them for a career.

Now, in many incidents, the public housing units are being sold to their former residents.
