(please pardon the self indulgence...and NO, this is NOT about mouthwash!!!!)..but...

Grandpa was born Christmas Day 1909 - just 6 years after "Kitty Hawk", The same year the Nrth & Sth Poles were reached in new ways.

His 1st job was delivering ice to icehouses in Northern Kansas (via horse and buggy). He has lived to see a man on the moon and beyond.

He now emails his great great grandchildren.

I imagine the "scope" of this man's life.

What an astounding time we live in!

It has been a MOST amazing Christmas!!!!!

Happy Holidays Allflowerforyou

My grandmother was born in 1902, she lived to be 96. I often had similar thoughts about all that she had seen change in her lifetime!

My grandmother is 87 and still pushes a lawn mower on her 2 acres even after back surgery, mastectomy and minor heart attacks and strokes.

Makes you think huh?

I bet you have learned all sorts of first hand history from him. I love history especially the first hand stories

Its crazy...i think about these times a lot. If I had been born in my Grandma's era I would have passed away at age 19 due to heart faliure. Now surgeons can do 2 open heart surgeries before lunch.

For those of you that have shared your stories of your great grandparents or grandparents, and if the are still alive today. Please spend a lot of time with them, ask questions you always wonder about in their life.Ask what they see the future as for you.Maybe share a story of something your going threw and ask advice.
You have no idea how you will make them feel loved and needed yet.

I was very blessed to be raised by a grandparent, and a great grand and learned their hardships. As well as what it took to get them threw a great depression... and they live to tell their story.

This truly makes you think....what we today are doing with our lives to servive.

When men landed on the moon (69), my grandmother said something similar. That she had lived in the fastest changing century of all time, from people lighting street lights by poles to a man on the moon. We are speeding up.

I have always thought that going to nursing homes and just talking to people there might make a good foundation for a book.

A look at history through their eyes.

Awesome! Pretty incredible, I'll bet, when you sit down with him and just let him reminisce.

My grandmother was born in the 1890's. She passed away in 1996 at age 100! She was a wonderful, intelligent, and strong woman.
She raised me and I used to love just hanging out with her.
The best Gram I could've asked for. She was always there for me!

Love you Gram!Miss all your stories and words of wisdom.
