Mine is to NOT sneak a cigarette here and there anymore. I've gone from a pack a day to 1 smoke a day. I want to be completely done with the worst habit ever.

out of all the drugs i've ever done, cigs are probably "the" hardest to quit. good luck to every one!

Maybe it's a smoker thing..but it seems like everyone who smokes also has take better care of me on their list -did i make a mistake? probaly! Anyway...the e- cigarette thing...did you cut down first? Yes YR, my doc did say cut down every week, that was months ago, my brain is like a colender sometimes..sigh. I won't make any resolutions like LL, they never work out. It's also just getting way too expensive. I lost about 25 pounds since March.. trying (because to quit smoking- if i gain weight)and the new job being on my feet constantly moving. But my own place has deteriorated slowly but surely by placing all my energy at work on them so..............am gonna make a bigger effort to keep up this little home. Thanks for all the advice! HO-Ho-Ho

I'm going to quit smoking completely. I have cut it down to half so far. Oh and I'm going to try to be nicer to the stupid neighbors. That will be harder than quitting smoking grumble

How about you?

So, what plan do you have for quitting? I started thinking about it last summer, have cut down, smoke ultra lights and it is soooo addictive. I bought 2 boxes nicorette gum, licorice root (the real stuff- twigs of the root) now...where's the real motivation. I do enjoy it and play over in my mind what the future might really hold (seen it first hand and know am dumber than dumb to keep at it) but am wondering if you have any tips.
AND I really hope this doesn't turn into a nag thread from people who don't smoke or previous smokers...I feel we know how serious it is and are starting.

I quit one time for 8 yrs..I was one of the horrible ex-smokers...couldn't stand it after awhile..made smokers miserable.
I started back, from 0 to 3 packs a day..that lasted for over a year until I finally was able to slow down to a pack and a half.
I tried the pills..and thought about killing myself, seriously..
I finally managed to quit again three months ago..my motivation? Cancer...a lot of it in my family..I still want a cigarette, badly! But I promised myself not to have one. my resolution is to try not to take up smoking again...and to LOSE the weight I'm gaining from having something in my mouth all the time!

Shasta....I couldn't do cold turkey. Every time I tried, my family would buy me a pack because I was so irritable laugh

so I started to slowly cut down. I went down to 4 cigarettes a day now. I take a few puffs then put it out and try to go for a while before I smoke a few more puffs.

How long did that take? Did you start by one a hour? The worst time is when I get home from wk and so tired...and get on the computer...

I wish you all much success in your resolutions of quitting smoking.

I enjoy smoking, I won't quit.

I enjoy drinking, I won't quit.

I guess my resolution would be, to try to be more tolerable of my family, if that is even possible. I will try, is all I can say.

Try to do some thing for myself for a change instead of for everyone else.

The pills are supposed to be really dangerous, i suffer from bouts of depression and said 'no way'. My sister quit by using the licorice root years ago, it's natural and you can hold it like a cigarette, even draw on it and you'll taste lic. And they are a natuaral deterent also. today am gonna start..one of hour and will put them in the bathroom or something so everytime want one will have to get up and then think about it. Hmmmm.

This year, I resolve......

To be more open and outgoing to break out of my shy, bashful and repressed shell.

(que the song "Too many d*cks on the dancefloor")

I fail at my new years resolutions every year so no resolutions this coming year.

I am still quit on the smoking though so since that was a new years resolution for many a year maybe I did it just a few years late...lol

I never viewed a resolution as a promise.....more like a goal...ya know?

I try to make several resolutions just to see which ones I accomplish laugh

Although I am thinking I need to start a smokers support thread laugh

I have almost 4 months quit. A pulmonary deal. Now, if I even think about one my tubes shut off.

My resolution will be to make sure I always answer the door with clothes on.
