The way a bill moves through congress is first it is written, then the house negotiates and passes their version. Then that version goes to the Senate. They make changes, vote and pass the bill.
Now it goes before a committee made up of both members of the house and senate. If passed that final bill goes to the President.
With his signature it becomes law.

Normally noncompliance is handled in civil court without a jail penalty.

In the Senate, the Finance Committee’s health care bill was amended to nullify the possibility of jail time for not paying the penalty tax. It stipulates that in the case of nonpayment, "such taxpayer shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution or penalty with respect to such failure." Instead, the Senate measure would allow the government to collect the tax by deducting it from any IRS tax-refund checks or other government payments.

Satisfied?

Since I haven't read any of the republican blogs you have named I will continue to think for myselflaugh

So they won't put you in jail if you don't pay your taxes...Really I will have to call the local IRS office in the AM I am of a different understanding.

but for argument sake let's say you are right..they won't put me in jail they will just garnish, bank accounts, homes, vehicles, retirement funds... I really feel sorry for the people that make they 18701 couple..Sucks to be them...

Funny I just had a thought instead of yelling at people to quit reading republican blogs, why don't you quit reading the Dem's.

Before you ask Yes, I did read the first health care bill and want to read each line of this one..

BTW so calle Democrats propaganda where is his promise to go line by line and mark out all the "Pork".. Hmmm another transparency issue.

Justa guy,

Read it all!

Oh THAT is hilarious.

The IRS isn't going to come after someone if they don't pay the additional taxes for not buying health insurance????

Dude, I don't know what kind of fantasy land YOU are living in, but the idea that the IRS would just let it go is patently absurd.

Not to mention, IF that was true, then you would have a whole lot of people NOT buying the health insurance AND not paying the taxes because the IRS would have no power to do anything about it.

Come on, man.

I KNOW you are smarter than that.

OH. By the way. Court is not the only option the IRS has.

They can audit someone to death.

LMAO

Why would you question the facts man!

They will just levy the fine from either your wages or recover it from your tax return.

Either way, your arguing against the language in the bill.

Don't be a stop sign!

In the House bill it says,

H.R. 3962, the House-passed bill, requires people to have health insurance, unless they are below a certain income threshold ($9,350 for singles, $18,700 for couples in 2009). Those who don’t get coverage will be subject to a tax of 2.5 percent of their adjusted income beyond that threshold, up to the cost of the average national premium.

That was the House bill!

Now here's where the confusion and half truth comes in.

Sections of the current Internal Revenue Code, laying out the consequences of willful tax nonpayment.

Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:

■Section 7203 - misdemeanor wilful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
■Section 7201 - felony wilful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.

That is not wording in the bill, but in the internal revenue code as noted. Sections 7201, 7203!

Normally noncompliance is handled in civil court without a jail penalty.

< Ahem >

I did point out in my previous post that even if the language isn't in the bill itself, the basic tenet is the same.

Like I have said before. I will be waiting for the first challenge to this new " law " once it's passed.

It sounds like a lot of it, especially making the purchase of health care mandatory, very well could be found unconstitutional.

This is the bill as it stands today, and it is the language.

And mostly from you.

You blame everything on Bush

You dismiss a unified 40 senators as obstructionist

You accuse any contrary debate to your opinion as coming from blogs

And you refuse to see that the healthcare bill is lined with corruption involving special deals for votes.

Really the excerpt I put here about line by line is out of Obama's own mouth..As I stated before I have never been on any republican nor Demorcat blog..That to me would insult my intellect since I will make up my own mind by what I read across the board from convservative to liberal.

By your own words.. Up to 1 year in jail, fine the health care bill won't put you in jail, the IRS will for not paying the taxes you own which was raised by healthcare...

If for one make enough to be in the higher tax bracket, why should I pay for people that aren't. Should I be punished for working hard, pulling extra duty when asked not live above my means, believe debt any debt is scary.

As far as Bush's rating oh well he is gone and now is Obama... Funny I stated when he was elected if the Dem's play their cards right they would be in power for the next 25 years now they have shown they are just like or worse than any republican. I say fire them all

John,
There are many who know the truth about Hussien. Anyone tries to convince you otherwise is still just blinded by their saviors light.
The best way to respond to their BS, is by simply not acknowledge them.
