So stupidnoway

NO it is not a possibility unless you buy into propaganda garbage and misinformation and then you will believe a possibility of it when there is none.

Really hmmmm... Then how come some Democrats are sayiing this also. I have spent every spare moment on the web tracking down the Propaganda and gee it looks like Obama is a great propaganda machine.

I for one don't want to pay for something before I get it. Sorry that is just bad business, I don't repay for anything else why should I pay for this.

You do know "Koolaid" goes both ways and people seem to "pay for it" before they get it...lol You know by believing the garbage.

It is obvious why it will not happen this way.

The fearmongering hatemongering folks would like people to believe the garbage on this post though.

So, are you saying you don't like this particular thread?what

I'm saying you should expand your reading and look beyond the misinformation and lies you're being fed by the Republican blogs you're being duped by!

You lost! America won!
1 more vote and it won't take 60 votes.

This time tomorrow Obama will have signed the bill.

And what makes your opinion the truth, THE RIGHT ONE! Are we to believe your opinion, just because it is yours?

I have my opinion as well...and it is just as important to me, as yours is to you.

If for some reason you don't like the beliefs of opposing opinions, then the door into here works both ways, and I'm sure no one is twisting your arm to post here.

Your welcome to come and go...but if you go into a thread that does not set with your way of thinking...then I'm sure there are plenty of misleading info threads for you to go to.

Oh come on.

You know that their opinion is the only one that matters because they sez so.

Everyone else is just stupid and paranoid to even THINK that a bill full of backroom deals and questionable language could POSSIBLY be bad for the country.

If you can't say that you have read the entire bill, which by the way, even the Dems say that most of them don't know everything that is in it, then you cannot make the claim that the language isn't there.

I have not read the entire bill, but I HAVE seen the language in question. I just wish I could remember where I saw it. But it was NOT on some Republican blog since I don't read blogs.

As usual, the language is open to interpretation.

In the House bill it says,

H.R. 3962, the House-passed bill, requires people to have health insurance, unless they are below a certain income threshold ($9,350 for singles, $18,700 for couples in 2009). Those who don’t get coverage will be subject to a tax of 2.5 percent of their adjusted income beyond that threshold, up to the cost of the average national premium.

That was the House bill!

Now here's where the confusion and half truth comes in.

Sections of the current Internal Revenue Code, laying out the consequences of willful tax nonpayment.

Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:

■Section 7203 - misdemeanor wilful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
■Section 7201 - felony wilful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.

That is not wording in the bill, but in the internal revenue code as noted. Sections 7201, 7203!

Normally noncompliance is handled in civil court without a jail penalty.

In the Senate, the Finance Committee’s health care bill was amended to nullify the possibility of jail time for not paying the penalty tax. It stipulates that in the case of nonpayment, "such taxpayer shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution or penalty with respect to such failure." Instead, the Senate measure would allow the government to collect the tax by deducting it from any IRS tax-refund checks or other government payments.

Satisfied?

Limbaugh, Palin, and Republican blogs are full of misinformation and half-truths.
Don't believe a word they say. If their lips are moving, they are lying!

Next time you make a claim be prepared to provide proof.

Otherwise you are just as guilty of spreading misinformation and propaganda as the Republican blogs you extract your misinformation from.
As someone claimed they did earlier, not to mention a name, make up your own opinion.
Just do it with facts!

Please!

Ok. So, according to your post, if you don't have health insurance, you are subject to an additional tax.

If you don't PAY that tax, the IRS sez you can get more fines < ie taxes > OR you could possibly go to jail.

Tell me why that language < although not directly IN the bill itself > equates to anything less than what has been said??

If you don't buy health insurance, you pay more taxes. If you don't pay more taxes, you go to jail.

6 of one, a half dozen of another.

It's basically the same call.

Also as said, The penalty,
normally noncompliance is handled in civil court without a jail penalty.

But, that was the house bill which is trumped by the revised bill. The Senate bill.

Oh THAT is hilarious.

The IRS isn't going to come after someone if they don't pay the additional taxes for not buying health insurance????

Dude, I don't know what kind of fantasy land YOU are living in, but the idea that the IRS would just let it go is patently absurd.

Not to mention, IF that was true, then you would have a whole lot of people NOT buying the health insurance AND not paying the taxes because the IRS would have no power to do anything about it.

Come on, man.

I KNOW you are smarter than that.

OH. By the way. Court is not the only option the IRS has.

They can audit someone to death.

It's not "Obamacare" or the "democrats" or the "republicans" who's gonna put you on the street, but Wall Street.

Watch the unemployment rise drastically in sometime around mid January and February, after the temp workers will let go.
