1) Find someone to do something kind hearted for.
2) Do it.
3) If spirit still unmoved, see #1

Well, we do. But what he's getting at, is that it doesn't always have to be Candy Canes and Christmas trees. To some, Christmas takes on a deeper more spiritual meaning, or maybe none at all.

...to celebrate the holidays...what do you do??

I haven't really felt any reason to " celebrate " in a very long time.

So that makes Christmas just a day like any other to me.

Yet, people seem to think there is something " not quite right " about me because I don't have " Holiday Spirit ".

I'm not, and never have been, a person that will just go through the motions to keep up appearances.

Interesting topic, I guess I feel just as you do, although for some of those reasons, and maybe some others. For me, it's not like it was when I was a child. I learned about the true origins of Christmas and what it has become today. Lo, how I long for simpler times. Now Madison Avenue has thoroughly defiled what was once a festive and innocent holiday. Never mind that Christmas is pagan in origin, and the traditions like the tree, the gifts, Santa, etc. were all folded into the observance of the birth of Christ, by the Holy Church and by commercialized marketing in modern day society. It's all about getting good deals, spending lots of money, and making sure everyone has that "special" gift. No wonder people are so messed up with stress and anxiety this time of year.

Spot on! I totally agree. I do feel I have to go through some of the motions though or my son would be disappointed.

What I suggested actually has very little if anything at all to do with Christmas. I do, however know it to be one thing that consistently breaks me out of depression.

Then make it fun or funny.

Just hang mistletoe from the back of your jeans.
then everyone can just kiss your _ _ _ .laugh

Yep, December 25th means to me as much as September 25th or July 25th. Just another day on the calendar, despite what these mind-numbing commercials say.laugh

That is because there is so much stigma and pressure about what we are 'supposed' to do ... how we are 'supposed' to feel. Half the people feeling 'it' are pretending ... or medicated ...

Walk your path your way in whatever way feels right to YOU! Celebrate if it is in your heart to do that ... don't if it is not ... your life ... your journey ... you get to choose ...

JAG I do know what you are talking about, I went through that for a while, then one year I decided to volunteer at the local community hall where they serve Chrismtas dinner to people that want it. I also got involved with things here in my town so I stay really busy this time a year.

I think the bottom line is if you dont' feel it them so be it and go with the flow, I do think you should be kind to yourself that day.
