As a member on this site ive viewed gots of nice womens profiles and ive sent lots of emails out to various people which i would like to date but nothing never comes out of it . My question is for all the womem on here is it a put off for guys to send out emails out as mostly its me that makes the first move or should i just wait for women to contact me as this is a good site to be on or am i trying to hard . Thanks Robkent

Personally, I joined this site, looking to meet someone to date, and with hopes maybe long term. Some never really post enough info in their profile, to know what they are here for on the site.I have recieved the nudges,if i'm intrested I nudge back.Hopefully the person will take time and write something of intrest that they had seen we have something in common. What I hate is the copy and paste letters, or notes, that some send to many.Makes me laugh, and usually gets deleted asap.

Time for tough love Rob.

So you signed up for a dating site (upgraded even), and you haven't had a date...is that what you're saying, Bobby? Signing up for a dating site does not guarantee you dates. You have to put effort into it.

Just looking at your profile, it needs a lot of work. Go back and use spell check and at the end of a sentence, put one of these >.< . If the messages you send out are anything like your profile, then I am not surprised nobody is writing you back. You need to put effort into it. It comes off lazy and uneducated. I'm not saying you are either, but I'm only going by what you wrote. You also need more pictures. The ladies are visual too.

Next cold hard truth is that you are 5'8"...aka short for a man. To some women, this doesn't matter if they are shorter than you. But a good percentage of women like tall men. It's the equivalent to being a BBW on a dating site.

Next, just because you find someone the bee's knees, doesn't mean they need to reciprocate it. Are you sending emails to appropriate women? You don't have any restrictions on age in your profile or anything else for that matter. Or are you thinking you should date someone 20 years your junior? I ask that because you have undecided if you want children or not and you have no children. At what point are you going to decide the answer to that question? You are 50, really, you want small children now?? Well good luck with that if it's true.

I suggest you don't use the nudge system. It's a lazy form of communication.

None of this was meant as a slight to you Rob. I just want you to understand why the ladies aren't flocking to you. Hope I helped some.

Don't feel bad. I've only had one friend request in almost 2 years and it was from a GUY who lives on the other side of the globe!

Rob, its all preference. Some obviously dont like the nudge,, others , like myself, prefer it. You have to do whats best for you, but obviously, trying several things will give you a better idea of what gets the best result.

My advice don't rely on any dating site to find someone, they are a long shot at best!

MM is getting even worse every month! I only had 3 or 4 to even pick from last time! It's getting to the point where it's not even fun humoring myself anymore!

I would go even further to say don't rely on anything but your own ability

just getting on a web site is not a magic wand for instant gratification

you still have to put yourself out there and see and be seen. demonstrate your charm and style and class by participating in the forums

the internet is just another communication medium. being on the internet is like buying a cell phone. just because you have a phone doesnt mean women are gonna start calling you. and calling a hundred women at random and leaving a voice mail doesnt work too well either

I recomend posting in the forums and becoming known and liked (or not) and you'll meet women and guys and make some friends and maybe just maybe you'll even get lucky

Maybe it is because your main pic looks like a police sketch.laugh

Seriously, to the O.P., I know there are some success stories with any internet dating site, but I wouldn't rely on it, altogether.

In fact, from my own experience, I wouldn't rely on it, at all. To me, it's like standing in a desert and praying for rain. Yeah, it happens, once in awhile...

I'm sure there are a million different things you could do, to improve your chances, but they may or may not work.

Personally, I prefer to meet women the old-fashioned way. (all smart-a$$es, feel free to go crazy with that line)

All dating sites provide is a place to meet people, I doubt there is any guarantee on any site that you will find your match.

Make friends first, stop focusing on that elusive relationship, join the forums, meet more people, share ideas, laughs, jokes, advice and above all have fun.

If I were a guy, Id use the nudge feature. Nudge first, if there is a nudge back,,contact.. if no nudge back then move on.

I tend to ignore people who do that. I've even put in my profile not to do that.
