Why do people feel the need to put that in their profile?
"Sorry ladies, my daughter will always be the number one gal in my life".
"My kids are my everything". "My children come first".
Why???

your kids were there first so they should be the number one priority
my mom was with this guy for years, he was a only child and he had 2 sons from a previous marriage, he didnt know how to share so it was hard on him. and when it came to me and my sisters he didnt know what to do.. my mom was with him for several yrs, and she even said she fell in love with him. but he couldnt accept me or my sisters so my mom moved out... several yrs later i noticed in the paper he had gotten married to a lady that had a son but it wasent mention in the announcement that he had any kids.

if a man gave me a choice him or my kids... you darn right my kids will be choicen first... if he cant accept that, then he not worth it

I agree...it is a given, does not need to be said. I avoid any man with such remarks in his profile...

I think that sometimes people have experienced others perceiving that their kids are not first if they don't mention it 'or' have had experiences like what Queen mentioned where a person expected to be first before someone's children...

Seems to me, and I could be wrong. There is a place for the children and a place for the lover..partner. No one has to be first or second..just different.

Good point... You need adult time and parent time and sometimes they need to be separate...

I think a lot of people who have children have found in dating relationships they are often pressured to ignore their kids needs so they try to avoid that from the start.

Sometimes it is over compensation for their feelings of being last as a child.

Sometimes they want to be thought of as responsible and respectable and having traditional priorities.

I do think it sounds aggressive and defensive. Pretty much assures you are going to get a wimp. Or someone who will stay away as much as possible from forming a family.

there is a place for both but they also have to be on the same level
but yet your children have been there first before anyman

I totally agree . The only way it would be relevant is if you are assuming that you are talking to a complete moron which is entirely possible . But we all know thats not what they are thinking. Its like they feel some guilt toward whatever happened to put them in the situation where they are single with kids. So they have to give their kids some sort of "shout - out".It makes me cringe the same way it does when someone uses the term "cynergy " or some other corporate lingo in a board meeting.

I think they are just letting you know that if you can't accept the children then there is no further conversation...as it should be, I actually like seeing that in a profile, I just wish more people thought that way, the world would be a lot better place if we stopped neglecting its children. No man or woman should ever let a stranger come between their responsibilty as a parent.

Well, actually the man came first and that's how the child was created.

I hear ya sista..I put a dating life on hold for my boys. I don't feel a need to emphasize in a profile...my boys are number one.
Again, to me it is a given..an unspoken universal law, the mother/father child bond.

on the wimp part. well it doesnt have to do with family it has to do with relationships if the person doesnt know how to express himself and gives nothing but excuses, then that tells you its to move on.. a wimp isent a man hes a coward.. i have a poem i wrote awhile back after i broke up with someone i met on here.. he accepted my kids which was fine he just was never around and i knew what he was trying to do

a man should be a man and not a wimp when it comes to relationships, when to express there feelings on where the relationship is standing, instead of making excuess, and stating that he had ran out of things to say. if the world of men felt that then there would be no dating sites, and no men would have a woman in there life..
men can be chicken and many have proved it.... that can state part of the reasons why this world cheats for lack of honesty...
