my kids arent babies anymore
my daughter is 26yrs with 3kids and my son is 22yrs and hes a special needs child with a mind capcity of a 12yr old... i just dont think his dad has or ever will know how to deal with a child with a disabilty

^why do you classify him as a "Dad", he's not, just a donor, father means much more than producing offspring. He must mold the child unto adult hood, his loss that he didn't, course he loses a lot, respect as a man being the number 1 thing, and not to mention the joys of parenthood.

actually thats funny. you said the same thing my daughter said about her dad.. and i dont dont classify my son dad as a dad for hes not for he never been around... hes a looser and always will be his 2nd wife has put up with his crap all these yrs, im sure she has caught his lies or his cheating and if she hasent she stupid

Why do people feel the need to put that in their profile?
"Sorry ladies, my daughter will always be the number one gal in my life".
"My kids are my everything". "My children come first".
Why???

To bug the hell out of you.smokin

These statements for me need not be in my profile, reason being is the person should know this, it's just a given that children need Mom or Dad... My children are not extremely young, which allows me some free time to date..(mom is still there) my children are 18,17 and 11. As for my 11 year old, if I could smoother him I would, but, being that he's a boy ahhh, yeah he kinda runs from the hugs n kisses... laugh..

To respond to your question, I put that in my profile to steer away the guys looking for hookups. I initially went online to find someone who thought more like I do and not to find my next "one night stand". And, no, you shouldn't expect a guy to just know that your kids will be first because a lot of women don't put their kids before their boyfriend, husband or whatever. By saying that I can assure myself that I won't be getting emails to take off to Vegas on the weekend. Instead, I will (and have!) get serious, more mature responses.

Again, to me it is a given..an unspoken universal law, the mother/father child bond

^but in all reality you'd be surprised how much it isn't a "GIVEN"

a fair amount of truth, I probably would be surprised...

father bond? what the heck is that.. my ex hubby never bonded with my son even after we got divorced. the last time he saw him was when he was 2yrs old untill almost 2yrs ago when my son was in the hospitol and we didnt know if he was going to make it.. i contacted his dad, i actually harrassed him where he ended up coming down with his wife and daughter.. i sware his daughter had more freaken brains then her dad did.. we didnt tell my son his dad was there for we didnt know if there would had been a problem.

Believe it or not, there are fathers that actually have that special bond with their children. I know a lot of single fathers that have actually raised their children and the mothers are the ones that took off...so I guess the women are losers! Trust me, it can go both ways...I am just sorry that your children didn't have that chance to bond with their father.

My tuxedo cats come first, then the lucky female. Want to swoon me, buy them some catnip. My puttertats have been loyal companions to me through 3 long term relationships, so they are quite special to me. Meow.

I'm sure that is the first thing Susan Smith or Andrea Yates would use as the first line, if they had a profile herelaugh laugh laugh

I agree...it is a given, does not need to be said. I avoid any man with such remarks in his profile...

I think it is put there to put potential s/o's in their place. To say,, you will never be number one,,so to speak. I appreciate the information, it shows an involvement with their children that is not always an obvious thing these days.

I think it is put there to put potential dates in their place. To say,, you will never be number one,,so to speak. I appreciate the information, it shows an involvement with their children that is not always an obvious thing these days. I would probably steer clear of the post, not because I dont think its admirable, but because it rings of a philosophy that contradicts what I believe a commitment should be. There is a place in life for your partner and your kids and a need to rank them may be a preview of future issues.

not sure if this has been said or not....

My opinion as to why people put what should be the obvious is because it's not always obvious to some. There are people out there that think a person should blow their kids off for them....trust me...I've dated some.
