ITs not drinking that is the problem, its people who drink to get DRUNK, in other words, abuse of drinking. I think its a bad choice when a person gets in the habit of fulfilling their need for entertainment by being drunk. Bad for the liver, and makes them seem like quite the foolish character on top.

I won't drink personally, never have, never will.

As for other people, I don't mind, as long as it's in moderation. I've never understood why people think going out and getting trashed is a good idea. I've seen too many people drunk, and I don't want to be (or be around) anything like that.

But it's the only thing that makes me feel worthwhile...Everything more fun when your drunk.Lets face it beer tastes like crap, the more you drink the better it tastes, why else would you want to drink it?....I personally think life is sooooooo much easier with a buzz..Different strokes for different folks....

I think the reason that I haven't is a big part of why I don't have many of the associated problems of drinking. Know it has saved me a lot of money and sure can't say I feel like I missed anything. I have bartended and served drinks so it is not like I haven't seen it first hand. Think it also has a lot to do with my skin staying nice. Have a younger sister and she looks ten years older than me. Considering what we know about the damage it does to our bodies I really don't get why anyone wants to.

Most people don't intend to 'get drunk'. Getting into the habit- is called addiction, and it's not so much for entertainment purposes but escapism, some call it 'relaxing'. Sure, college and teenages it's for the thrill or fun of it and more than likely get drunk by not knowing their limits or how fast it affects the brain, and those differences vary greatly by several factors (weight, food, etc).
Substance abusers have different brain make-up, if they take a drink and can't stop after 2 they more than likely are predestined for alcoholism or some other equally insipid addiction legal or not.
(Rx, alcohol vs illegal drugs). It's a horrific addiction as all, damaging to almost all the organs of the body including the brain and once they have acheived sobriety can fall back into it any given time of their life by imbibing once once or twice again, which at that time will put them pretty much where they left off, even years later.
Some of the biggest obstacles is denial, and the serious lack of professional research and support to assist all addicts acheive recovery. The good news is, that if they stop, they can reverse some of the physical damage alcohol has done to the body...it all depends on how long and hard they drank. I work with substance abusers, and have family hx with it, best teachers in the world and did the reseach.

Well certain beers are an acquired taste, like a fine wine. That's why sooo many varieties are available. I dig Guiness and Red Stripe myself.

I have been around a lot of drinkers, havent drank myself in over 20 years.. but by what I saw.. MOST very well intended to get wasted.

Very few were light drinkers.

I am a light drinker...I drink nearly everyday, just depends and yep I drink to get a buzz, but i rarely get drunk. I am healthier than anyone i know my age around me and many people far younger than me. I am sure there are more healthy men my age but i haven't met one recently. Health is based on so many factors and yes alcohol is a poison I know that but many things are bad for you. They say Stress is far more toxic than alcohol.... So many fat people in this country and thats a killer! My father was a drinker too and he worked as an arborist and was climbing trees and cutting them down 40 hours a week up until he was 67 and is still fit today at 70. He drinks beer nearly every day. Beer drinking or wine drinking is not very bad for you if you don't over do it and there are some health benefits. I love my beer and never really have understood the people who are so strongly against it??? Jesus drank wine!

cell phones maybe.the rest of those don't cause innocent people to die because one dumb@$$ thinks he's being cool by not having a brain.i've seen the effects of alcohol all my life.i've had loved ones that have been killed by drunk drivers.my uncle was an alcoholic,he done so much damage to his body,he can't even hold his bladder now
