I had a guy turn right on a red light, cutting across 4 lanes of traffic. I was in the far lane and he pulled right in front of me... causing me to swerve. I honked 1 time. ONCE. and HE was in the wrong. He chased me for MILES. I had to call the cops. He cut in and out of cars, coming up right next to me, like he was going to side swipe me. Shaking his fist and screaming... telling me I should F'N Die and I'm an F'n B@#ch and everything else. It was terrifying. I really thought he was going to crash into me and attack me. He face was pure red. scared scared scared He changed his tone when I pulled out my nephews BB gun and pointed it at his head... He turned off the next street.

Just think though, if that person had a gun too.....that's the part that worries me about guns. I don't know where people get all this anger.......it's disconcerting.
I agree... but at the time I really thought he was going to attack me and I didn't have any other option. He was literally inches from the side of my car swerving at me. Had I not had it, I believe it would have kept getting worse.

The only problem with that...

The laws around here are that if you flash a gun like that, and the person decides to call the police with your plate number, YOU are the one who's going to get into a boatload of trouble.

I ditched a road rager at a train crossing once, I made it, he didn't. Reminded me of the Fast and the Furious. Normally I don't do that sort of thing, but this was a special case. Couple of rednecks in an old Chevy pick-up.

Road Rage that is.

I was a victim of it this morning. Dude thought I was purposely putting my bright lights on him and stopped in the middle of the road and proceeded to come at me in my vehicle shouting every obscenity in the book. First I was shocked, then angry and then scared. Scared didn't come until way later when I realized I was out on a country highway at 6 AM with nobody else in sight and I could have possibly been hurt by this jerkwad. I'm thinking of carrying something in my car to protect myself from now on (like a police baton...I have a couple). Mostly I'm a little bit nervous to find out if this a-hole is going to be driving my route every morning.

Anyone else ever had an experience like this.......more than just the usual run of the mill flip off?

Police baton won't do you good... you need to swing it and from behind the steering wheel that cannot be done.

I suggest the following "For Her" self defence weapons:

1. Mace.
2. Fece.
3. Mice.
5. Mousse.
6. Miss.
7. Misc.
8. Suggestive loungerie.
9. A bright light that you shine in his eye, thus temporarily blinding him.

Happens all too commonly in the D.C. area. It rises and falls with the economy, the phases of the moon, the weather, and anything else that get's under people's skins. I've had many a weird, freaked out (usually male) driver suddenly focus intense fury on me as though he thought I challenged his basic rights as an American.
I chalk it up to overcaffienation, rising tensions after [they] experienced a series of traffic setbacks (usually all by chance), while in a hurry to get somewhere important. I've even caught myself cursing someone out (I don't do it to their faces, that's gotten people shot around here in the past), only to realize later that I was totally out of line.
Most days, I TRY to react by apologizing. It really doesn't matter if I was entirely in the right, and he was entirely in the wrong, an apology can help him calm down, and I don't lose anything. Fighting off the adrenaline rush is the toughest part. I sometimes have to stop somewhere for a calming milk drink or something before I can continue safely.

As a trucker, I experience this on a daily basis!
I have figured it out that if I just ignore them
and act like that I didn't even see their reactions
that they get over it and they just move on.

It is illegal for a CDL Driver to carry any conceiled
weapon in their commercial or personal vehicle at
anytime...It's not fair, but who really cares what
a trucker goes thru...right?

You need some Mace....that shoots out about eight feet.
and or,,a stun gun.....both can be found at any must truck stops,
and security shops,,,,,,,mace about twenty bucks,,and the stunner
from thirty up to a couple of hundred for a taser dart shooting one.

Never stop the car to engage people. If they appear to need assistance, call the police on your cell phone. But, don't stop.

It's bad to be a passenger in a car with someone who road rages cuz' there's not much you can do. The road raging idiot puts his passenger in danger everytime. A "friend" of mine once threw a jar of Carmex at a guys brand new Mustang. Well, the driver of the Mustang got out of his car and headed directly to MY window. He was pissed. I was, like, "It wasn't ME, dude!"...gesturing towards my a$$hole driver. Scared the tar outta' me!

Yep......I hear you both. I won't be stopping again. It all happened so fast, I stopped without thinking. If that ever happens again, I will hold up my phone and try to go around or back up and go the other way. Hindsight, you know?

Great advice.

The guy stopping in the middle of the road and coming at you is a crime. Let the police handle it, keep your doors locked and call them asap.

Hope it doesn't happen to you again....drinker
