Hi I joined this site Christmas last year, it was my first on-line experience, I was giddy with excitement because I was lonely and had no other options except to look at my lap top. My girls the two of them were out of the country and I was wondering if I should even put up a tree, I had gotten all the decorations out, but the depresssion had me beat and then I logged in with lonely on the search engine and this site came up, I entered and have found people that have entered my life and filled a void. I don't post often but when I read the post they are always intelligent and written well and they have substance, I then went on other sites and was not so happy, they were more like a meat rack, where you go shopping, this site is Social like the word says you can Mingle

I'm here for the friends and the laughs and its been a blast so far. This is the only dating site I'm on and have ever been on.
The down side is that every guy I've met off here has failed the waitress test so I've pretty much given up on the locals. Oh well....

No doubt this is the best site I've found. In my opinion, not as good as when it was JSH when I joined, but still made some friends and even got a gf off this site.

You got to get a sense of people's personalities from the forums and see who you click with, I have some friends here who me up as well as are very supportive; don't act desperate for attention, though and have a sense of humour.

Its when you go out to a resturant with them and they treat you really nice and the waitress like crap. Showing off? Wacked out flirting?
I don't know why they do it but its one helluva red flag.

All sites such as this are akin to a very large, virtual local bar or pub. Some days, the folks who come to converse will be brilliant, other days they'll be jerks. You have to put some of your own energy into making the jerk quotient decline, and the fun, insightful part bloom larger.
And have patience! This people business takes time.
