There was a post a few days ago then basically said that all women were good for was to duct tape their mouths and spread their legs. I was very offended at this remark and the poster has made similar remarks about women. The poster's position is that he is only joking. I was wondering if I said the exact same statment but started it with "Jews" or "Blacks" if it would be equally acceptable?

yes, which was put in a thread with a positive message....which was done intentionally to disrupt the flavor of the thread..that is my point. I find that more disturbing. It isn't a joke, it is for shock value..to throw off the theme of the thread.

I agree. It was obnoxious on top of being offensive.

The only context where a joke like that would be considered a joke or funny is..... well not sure.

Yea, joke or otherwise its demeaning.

Thank you for giving us the context.

I agree, its in poor taste even as a joke, its still demeaning, and if not a joke really just shows a shallow perception and lack of regard.

This person has made other such derogatory "jokes" although that was by far the worst.

I believe you can tell a lot about a person by the type of "jokes" they tell.

I seem to have less tolerance for violence, derogatory language, prejudice, and such.

Does this intolerance for vulgarity come from becoming more educated or increasing age?

Just wondering what people have to say about the topic.

You got it all wrong. You're supposed to be more resilient to these things, according to TV, because you see them on TV.

I have heard that its an Australian thing to call a woman's special place her "box"

I vaguely remember an Australian joke about a guy on his wedding night and was unsure what to do so his friend hid outside the window to whisper directions

and while he was in the bathroom the girl had to go really bad so she used a shoebox

and when he came out he stepped in it and yelled "eeeewwww this box is full of shiit!"

and the voice from outside the window whispering "turn her over, turn her over"

or something like that

Thanks, Ruth, thank god I don't drink and thank god he don't exist, otherwise I would be smitten by him by now. Now he farms out the smitten part to women.

But, enough about me. Do you drink? What are you like when you drink? Become even more sociable and kind?

I was the proverbial drunk when I was drinking: I could not resist a pretty face, I became funny, and everyone's face was pretty to me. As a proverbial drunk I also blew chunks for a day after each binge, and lost consciousness after the third drink, spending the rest of the partytime facing the floor of the washroom, while people stepped over me to use the toilet. These were the good times!

Um...

It's like this...

I'm going to keep it as clean as I can.

The v-word is the box that the p-word comes in.

edited. Eschewed. I made a post here that was neither funny nor insightful. I can't stand it when I do that.
