He who made them at the beginning made them male and female and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate
I think this is what most christians base marriage upon. In my own ceremony , the last line of this passage, was included. Two were made, man and woman, to operate as one,,as God made Adam and Eve. |

I follow the idea that marriage is a union of souls not a union of genitals. I could never ask someone to marry me that I didn't care for.
I liked the video though |

I always wonder where Cain found his wife...some people said he found her in the "land of nod" but I guess that's slang for incesting his mother
|
|
|
|
Traditional interpretation is that Cain married his sister,,,from the great populations that extended from Adam and Eve.

No, its not slang really, Just an explanation of where sister lived.

No, its not slang really, Just an explanation of where sister lived. the land of Nod wasn't like a city...nod was hebrew for wanderer ..east of eden is just the direction Cain took to escape the presence of God ...this is why the Land of Nod is slang ..Cain wandered into his sister's east of eden and broke off his nod |

I would expect through custom that a Jewish wedding has kept tradition for 1000's of years.
Many things you will find we have mixed up. 1 the man suppossedly asks for fiance/girlfriends hand from her father. This is seen in Jacob working 14 years for her father before he was finally allowed to marry her. 2 you gave your future mother/father in law expensive gifts. for her hand to show how much you loved her. 3 you paid for the wedding not the parents. You saved not only for the wedding but also for the Honeymoon to show your bride your love for her. 4 the Honeymoon was a year long this being so the 2 of you coming together would have no outside influences from the ways of the world to fight about. Just learning about each other and loving each other during that year. During the wedding as the vows are said which the bible does not say anything about these vowels except to love and cherich your wife as Yahshua does for you. When you go before the minister thier are 3 Manorahs i believe 1 on each side and one behind the minister all lit . This symbolysing coming before the throne of Yahweh where the 2 witnesses are and Yahshua. As you take your vowels thier comes a time to where each are given a small amount of wine. They cross arms and give the other one a drink of this wine symbolising the blood of the covenant that they have just entered into. After the they do this a good size cloth is given to each other and and the bride and groom wrap each glass securely in the wine wine glass. They then put the glasses wrapped in cloths on the floor. As each one begins to stomp the wine glasses into thousands of peices the Minister says to them and the attendies. As these glasses are shattered and can never mend and be put back together again may this couple marraige from this day forward never shatter thier mairage as these wine glasses have been this day. With this all the people jump up to begin thier wedding party right then as thier New life begins right then. Thats how i remember it. But if this was done today many many brides would see the love of thier fiances to work for the greatest thing they can recieve right then.. Thier Bride... Blessings...Miles Also if you will remember the last supper as it is called they all drank from the same glass.. As in a marraige supper between them taking place |

For many christians, as myself , marriage is a joining of man to woman. the institution of marriage could be debated endlessly, but marriage itself is a pretty clear cut concept for me, based in my faith. |
