Just Talking

I talked with you,
Again today,
While making plans,
How, this season, weighs.

Against the scales
Of yester year.
Those weighted memories
Held so near.

With inflections,
Those, in my hearing.
How times changed.
No distance nearing.

This future, time,
Advancing life.
Challenge wrought,
A redefined strife

I heard how things
Just get away.
The need to be,
And just to say...

It's not the meal.
Our traditions, setting,
It's time together,
So no regretting.

And I would like
To tell you friend,
I love our time,
The way it bends.

When I am gifted
Of your presence,
You, your voice,
Heart's trimmings, I cherish.
