I figured that some americans would see an attempt at respect as weakness. ITs much more american to make OTHERS bow to OUR customs and have OUR type of government and way of life,,isnt it? (smh)

ha ha ha, yes indeedy, nobody would have said anything if he would have bowed to Obama....course I guess it would have been redundant since the nobel peace committee already did that....but yeah, your point is well taken, countries just aren't afraid of us anymore.

And we dont feel we should be scared of them,, so I guess that makes us no better or worse then them.

I see nothing wrong with doing the nastalgic jap bow.

Hussein and his etiqette advisors blew it and he made himself, as usual, the fool.

The usual fool doesnt graduate Harvard or unite a segregated country into electing a minority. To each their own, but I think that IF this was a cultural blunder, its quite UNUSUAL for BO, a very intelligent and respectful man.

For such an "intelligent",laugh, person, he sure has, in his year in, made quite a few buffoonist blunders.
Bowing befor Egypt king, trying to make a presentation without his telepromptor, declaring he will change,"destroy", the greatest country in the world. I'm sure other Minglers can come up with more of his "intelligent" actions.

if i recall shaking hands is not a part of the culture of the emperor

and if you notice

the hand shake and the bow are simultaneous

i am not a big fan of obama

but i must admit you get more with mutual respect and kindness than with fear mongering

kinda like dinero in the bronx tale about sonny

they don't love him they fear him

and at the funeral scene you could see exactly what the difference is

so b h o has my support on this particular incident to bad the last 30 or so presidents did not have the forethought to show some respect maybe the world would be a better place

and the assassins would not be trying to kill the united states

show respect earn respect

when disrespected then make them pay not rocket science (but it is political science)

just a thought

but hey

what do i know

speaking without a teleprompter indicates that someone is a fool? I thought it meant they could think on their own. I never heard him say he will destroy any country either,,so Im not sure the relevance of this post ......

nope, dont recall. I do recall numerous interviews in which he appears to speak just fine on his own , without teleprompter, speechwriter, or political sidekick to sit next to him and give him answers.

Lmao, one thing you really can't even dispute, the man is an eloquent speaker, hell it's what got him elected. Unlike Bush who had a hard time uttering a complete sentence, they even had a daily skit on the night shows about his constant blunders....No Barrack is well versed, although I have yet to hear a mind blowing speech, course there's not too much you can say once everyone figures out that it's all hot air or wishful thinking. Too bad the checks and balances aren't as one sided for him as they were for Bush, he might get more accomplished. Bush had the senate, the house of Reps and the supreme court at his whim.

Obama is a gentleman. I bet most of you guys don't even pull out a chair for the ladies at a restaurant or open a door for a lady when entering. You just barge right on in and sit down without regard for your date.

What ashame that people have become so sloppy and self righteous all the time.

All I can say is this crap should have never been on the news channel as a issue. What we want to hear is that the visit to Asia was successful in bringing stability and peace between the two continents.

Making fun of a president for his good intention at the moment of bowing down to respect a nation doesn't make his image weaker or for that matter the nation look bad. It makes him stronger for trying to reach out to different cultures to ensure peace and prosperity for both sides.

Call it want you want, but I call it a good lesson that many sloppy people should learn from.

Whatever happend to beleiving in equality? How do you bow to another man based on his status? Absolute disgrace!

Not even!!!

There is nothing wrong with an equal world leader showing another equal world leader the customary respect they are due in their country.

since when does a man have to subit to another man's culture? Especially when it goes against your own culture of "for the people by the people"! Respect for what? Have respect for your self and say i'm not bowing to no man under no circumstances!

It doesn't go against our culture to respect other culturesslaphead

Respect is shown in order to be received, something we Americans have forgotten for some reason.

Look our history of being controled by a monarchy is part of why we are a free nation today! We should not recognize such customs of bowing to another man! It has been an unwritten rule since President Adams that not all but most have followed! When we where a colony of england they would make our statesman bow three times while entering the room of the king. It was the custom of England and when Adams made president he vowed Americans would never do it again. Adams as a diplomat did bow three times to the king and felt humiliated and vowed Americans should no longer do so. So it is our culture against tyranny! Just the facts babe!

This is actually funny.

You really believe that bowing belittles anyone?

If bowing is the proper way to show respect in a country then that is how you show respect and noone is exempt from it.
