With the human sex ratio being so close,and in most cases more women than men.Why do you think there are more men than women on sites like this?

Probably because most women wait for the guy to ask. The guys
that don't ask usually hang around until they catch on. A lot of guys don't care if they stay on site.

If its true, maybe it is because it is pretty easy for the average female to find someone or to be found in her real life and men still are much more likely to face rejection in real time.

I would venture that being most women are repeatedly (nearly constantly) barraged by men asking them out, (or for sex) they probably don't need a site in order to be able to pick and choose from dozens, no hundreds of potential suitors. The selection of males that a woman has to choose from in her day to day life, is only limited by those with the courage to ask her and by her own standards. While men have to try to find sex, when a woman wants some, she just goes out and gets it. (Or at least that is how I would imagine it happens.) That may explain the difference.

Oh,, another potential reason I thought of. Between working, raising kids, being the maid, the cook, the nanny, the launderer,,etc,,,,,women probably dont have as much idle time to bounce around websites that men do(on average).

For the most part--(not all)--we don't jump into stupid relationships with hair heads. So we hang around until bored and leave. Women seem to hang around here and go through men like socks-- OK, have at it!!

also.. a lot of men that already have a girlfriend or wife prowl these places for *some* on the side.
I think MAYBE the married people should have a huge "M" tatted on their forehead!!
Would stop a lot of the cheating

I don't think there are more men than women, it seems to be about equal, at least from what I've noticed on the forums. Then again, I don't really sit around wondering why certain types of people come on dating sites, so who knows?

I think another reason is women are more sociable than most men. We are out and about more, so therefore it is a lot easier in the real world. I think the internet should be easy for men. The risk of rejection while higher may not be as scary as RL so men are more apt to try on a dating site.

I don't think I have ever really thought about it.

My theory is that between Brad Pitt and Johney Depp, and about ten other guys, all the women get used up.
I also see where Hugh Hefner has an inordinate share.
If you go to bars, or clubs, or any other such dating location, you STILL find two or more guys to every woman, so I figure they all must be over at Depp's house.
