It is the end for people every single day.

The date is not the end of the world but the end of a cycle on the Mayan calendar much like Dec 31 is the last day on our calendar. We don't think that the world will end every Dec 31st do we? No disrespect but if people researched what they were talking about before they opened their mouths I think there would be a lot less paranoia and hysteria in this world. We only fear what we don't know.

The hysteria is because the calendar stops, this same calendar has gone on for thousands upon thousands of years and now it just stops. It has predicted moon alignment, natural disasters, and star correlation...and after the 21st of December 2012 it will no longer do that. This added with the mysterious disappearance of the Mayan civilization (which is yet unexplained) adds more fuel to the fire.

There hasn't been any solid proof that there will be a polar shift in 2012, and while it is still being studied at this time I don't think there will be. The Mayan's did not predict the end, why would they put all kinds of natural disasters/star correlations/moon alignments into their calendar yet leave out the end of the world?

a polar shift does not happen in a day it happens over many years it's stupid nonsense

We are due for a polar shift, it isn't nonsense it is very likely. I just don't see it occuring as soon as 2012, probably be somewhere around 2020 or around there.

I have a friend who just got back from Peru..he spent a month in the jungle drinking the "jungle vine" with the Shaman...
The present-day Maya, as a whole, do not attach much significance to 2012. Although the calendar round is still used by some Maya tribes in the Guatemalan highlands, the Long Count was strictly employed by the classic Maya, and was only recently rediscovered by archaeologists. Mayan elder Apolinario Chile Pixtun and Mexican archaeologist Guillermo Bernal both note that "apocalypse" is a Western concept that has little or nothing to do with Mayan beliefs. Bernal believes that such ideas have been foisted on the Maya by Westerners because their own myths are "exhausted". Mayan archaeologist Jose Huchm complains that, "If I went to some Mayan-speaking communities and asked people what is going to happen in 2012, they wouldn't have any idea. That the world is going to end? They wouldn't believe you.

The "end of the world" concept comes from radical Christians who are waiting for Jesus..and the radical New Age Groups. Has nothing to do with the Maya or the calender.

The end is coming...

And we, as human beings, are arrogant enough to think we know the exact date. This December 2012 crap is utter nonsense. When the end comes, it will come in a way that either none of us anticipate, or that a select few of us that the rest of the world will deem crackpots may anticipate.

Just remember, if it all happens it's not the end of the world, just the end of us or life as we know it. The 'World' will live on.

So the planet may kill us because it needs to roll over in it's Galactic Bed. How ironic. We human beings care so very little about our environment. We thrive only to trash everything.

Is this the natural way of things? wow!! What a design. The Universe runs in patterns. We run around aimlessly. What have we done with the gifts of intelligence and awareness? We have proved that we are worth less than things that travel in circles for sure.

Some say that what is predicted is an age of elightenment. God I hope so. I would like some company.

I'm more worried about April 13, 2036. That's the day the giant asteroid may hit us.

I hope I'm still not onthis planet...too old...

There will be and already are shifts of energy...some are already feeling it, some aren't. There are things preceding up to 2012...just this end of the world crap is getting redundant and boring.
The age of aquarius is still a bit down the road...this is all just a precursor..

Like I said in a thread about the same subject.

If it is the end we can't do nothing about it so why worry, if it's not then we will see each other on the 13th.
