i started at twelve...and have quit repeatedly. the final time was about seven years ago in august. good job! i quit every time i was pregnant or nursing. afterward, i'd end up starting back (but never at home or in front of the kids). the last time, i kicked it for good. i wish i had sooner; i could have taken a vacation or something, lol. |

Do you all know that there is a 1-800 number in EVERY state if you are ready to quit and need help? They are DOH program funded by the tobacco lawsuit settlements (yeah, I know...seems contrary, but that's our legal system!) These hotlines usually offer free NRT and counseling and they can often refer you to a local agency for assistance with your quit.
IF you are ready (cuz you won't be successful if you aren't ready) then give them a call... |

Started smoking in the Air Force...thought I'd die anyway, so pretty much did everything...But when I left Vietnam on April 29, 1972...I quit cold turkey. Like most...turned fanatically healthy in terms of food and exercise!

I am using the electronic cigarette, it really works. I do not want a real cig. It is a nicotine inhaler, no smoke, no tar, no burning paper.

It is a nicotine inhaler, no smoke, no tar, no burning paper. is there a specific brand/make that is a good one? i'm thinking of buying one for robin for christmas (sssshhh, don't tell him) ~~~~ i think i just passed 14 years of not smoking this summer. |

Started smoking around 17 and quit many times. At times I went as long as 2 years but seem to never fail I would pick another one back up an was right back at it.
It will be 7 years this coming January that I finally put them down for the last time cold turkey and have never thought about picking them back up. It is one of the hardest things to do and unless it is something one really wants to do it is not going to happen.... |

I've quit over and over again. The most effective time was on a $20 dollar bet. I quit for six months with zero motivation to smoke and as soon as he paid me, I started up again! I find that bribing myself with something more valuable is a great motivator. I have quit now for 2 months and love every minute of it!
