I would love to visit India...I like some things about Hinduism, I frequent the Krishna Temple here, love the vegetarian buffet and I adore Deepak Chopra.
That's all I got. |

I have a good friend from Bangalor. Nice fellow. He visits when he delivers to the U.S. (he owns a lear jet dealership) He desperately wanted to marry my sister but, we saved him from getting his but kicked.....you know...the woman showing deference...walking three steps behind the man...that kind of thing. My sister would have beat the hell out of the guy.
Culturally, India may as well be a different planet than where I am from. I repainted aircraft at a flight school in Dallas that recruited trainees from India. I hung out with alot of Hindus. Many of thier ways seemed odd to me, but, I am sure that they thought my ways were just as bizarre. All in All...I never met a Hindu who ever did me wrong or ever said an unkind word so, they get my respect. |

Oh yeah, it definitely threw me when I figured out that Krupa is a popular girls name for lots of Hindu chicks.

Spent two years in Asia. India is crowded, smelly, noisy, and very beautiful. Most of the people are kind and generous, some are ruthless. Reminds me of a lot of places in the U.S..

The heat of the southern swamplands.
The crowds in Cities like L.A. and New York. The river deltas. The blue skies and mountain views of the west. |

The city I was in (Pune) was way more crowded than any city I've ever been in the US. It was hotter, too. The traffic was also nothing like I've ever seen before. Definitely something you have to see to understand.

Would like to see it.
There was a really enjoyable, 8 hour show on KERA TV that got into some very detailed history of India, and was very impressed. |

India is a wonderfully rich and complex country culturally...with staggering poverty some places and geat wealth in small pockets (pun non intended necessarily). I have traveled there over nearly 40 years...and to see the evolution and influences of Western culture in some areas...and the strict adherence to traditional ways has been fascinating. I love the people, generally. The food. The crowded nature of this great country defies description. Literally places where a million people live in a matter of a square mile. The kids there now lace their native dialects with American slang. Adults scratch their heads in wonder at today's youth....as they follow every American trend....from Hollywood movies to American Idol. Yet, arranged marriages are still not uncommon. The juxtaposition of these "co-existing" elements can be interesting. It is a great place to go for those who have a thirst for knowledge and people.
