It seems there was a government inoculation program back in 1976 for swine flu. Makes me even more leery of getting the vaccination.

I took the shot back in 1976...26 years old...one of 46 million+ who did...4,000 had some reactions...mostly neurological damage and about 25 deaths. A check with the CDC shows a lot has changed since 1976. Might want to hit their website...rather than just an old 60 Minutes report. The early sicknesses this time show it's stronger...more virulent. But, like Dirty Harry said, "Just how lucky do you feel today?" Some will, some won't. I'll take it again.

I'd rather take my chances with the flu than the chance of neurological damage or some other unknown effect of these vaccinations. I'd say you're gambling either way.

I will never get it, and neither will my child.

I will never get it, and neither will my child. Neither will I or my son. I think it's terrible it's being forced on people in certain professions with the threat of loosing their jobs. People should have the right to decide for themselves |

Actually it has not been forced on anyone as of yet my daughter works in a Clinic and none of the Doctors have taken it yet here due to at this time it is only being given to those that are at high risk within this area.....
The Swine Flu shot now they say is no different then the regular flu shot... It is up to each person what they do. I have gotten my regular flu shot and do plan on the swine flu shot as soon as it is available in my area. |

Well they were discussing it at first that all health care workers were going to have to or be in jeopardy of loosing their jobs. But that has not been enforced as of yet. Believe me my daughter would tell me for she hates shots and has no intentions of getting it. Lmao she did tell me I needed to get it though due to I always seem to get the flu every year..... so I do plan on it.

I will never take a government vaccination. Back around 1981, when I was about three, I received a flu shot through the church, as did many kids in my town. I recall experiencing a peculiar feeling within seconds. Within 10-15 minutes of getting the flu shot, my leg muscles cramped to the point that I could not move them, a condition that endured for about twenty minutes. My legs were bent near a fetal position when the effect occurred, and I had to be carried home. Even as I was lifted into the air, my legs did not straighten up.
I vividly recall the sensation in my legs of being like an icy numbness with an accompanying tingling. It was as if my legs had been submerged in a vat of water of sub freezing temperatures. Meanwhile, the daughter of a friend of my mother's was reduced to an invalid by the vaccination. |

Well personally I'm going to opt out of taking the shot.I was offered the shot during my physical recently but I declined.I work w/ youths however there is nothing mandatory in effect. It is currently optional. We've had some outbreaks in a few schools in surrounding towns so our local news is splattered w/ H1N1 stories as of late. There has also been a few teenager deaths that are H1N1 related. What really creep-ed me out today was seeing almost a dozen ppl wearing them disposable masks during my travels. The bottom line is 1)Take precautions.2)Stay informed.3)Don't Panic.Godspeed!Cy

It seems there was a government inoculation program back in 1976 for swine flu. Makes me even more leery of getting the vaccination. Yep! ... I've *never* had a flu shot. For a point of reference ... I was at the VA Hospital in Houston recently (semi-annual checkup) and the nurse told me they have had ZERO instances of H1N1 ... only "typical flu". And you can imagine how many folks pass through the Houston VA Hospital on a daily basis. |

its funny,my sister was asking this same question on FB today and I told her,
"remember when i was younger and every time i'd get a flu shot i'd get sick as a dog and have that really bad reaction? well once i was old enough to say no... i did." I haven't had a flu shot in 10 years. |

I didn't get the swine flu in the 70's, and i didn't get it when my son had it this summer--and i'm the one that took care of him--so i'm figuring i'm pretty safe not getting the shot. I haven't taken a regular flu shot since the early 70's either--and never get the flu. I guess i'm one of the lucky ones

When my son was an infant, I trusted everything his doctors said. He got a flu shot, and shortly there after became very sick all the time. He is now allergic to eggs, peanuts and tree nuts. I'm positive that the egg allergy was because of the flu shot and I will never trust everything doctors say. He will NEVER be vaccinated with any form of shot the government has to offer.
I had a chicken pox vaccine, still got it. I have never had a flu shot myself, and never have had the flu. |

I never got the shot...but i remember the mass fear and confusion...kinda like now!

I think it is anyone's right to refuse a shot but I also think it is others right to refuse to allow those who could infect others to move freely among society.
Since our government has failed to provide enough vacinnes to be produced to give them to even the ones willing to take them I don't see that happening however. I just don't know how anyone would ever forgive themself for not getting a vaccine when a loved one dies; especially a child. It is not going to be funny at all if a really deadly form of flu or whatever gets going. Doesn't seem like we learned much of anything from AID's. Our infection control practices are a joke. |

I watched the whole film and yes it's scarey that someone may face a serious neurological disorder like the woman in the film. Today in 2009 they have quite a few documented deaths from the swine flu. The ran out of the vaccine in my area, not sure if I will get it or not. |
